After last week’s Family Hangout at the Ellesmere Port Market, we know you’ll all be keen to get back to Theatre Porto!

Just a heads-up that there is NO FAMILY HANGOUT this Saturday, 5 September. After a hugely busy summer, we’re taking one week off before getting back into our regular Saturday rhythm.

We hope you’ve all had a brilliant first week back at school, work and everything else September brings.

Family Hangout returns to Theatre Porto on Saturday 12 September, 10am–12noon – and then continues every Saturday morning all the way up to Christmas.

Come and hang out in the café, kick-start the weekend with games, crafts and story-exploring, and maybe grab a hot drink and a slice of cake while you’re here.

We’re recruiting: Theatre Porto Casual Staff 2026

We’re looking for friendly, confident and organised people to join our casual team and help make Theatre Porto a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place for children, young people, families, artists and audiences.

Our casual staff support shows, events and activities across the building, working across two roles:

Duty Manager – helping oversee the safe and smooth running of the venue

Show Duty Manager – supporting performances, audiences and our Front of House team

You don’t need to know everything from day one – full training is provided for both roles.

Pay: £15.20 per hour

Hours: Approximately 8–12 hours per month, with no guaranteed hours. Shifts are mainly evenings and weekends, with some weekday work.

We’re particularly interested in people with excellent customer service and communication skills who enjoy working with children, young people and families. Experience in performing arts or Front of House is welcome, but not essential.

A little bit of magic is coming to Theatre Porto this October.

Ri Ri’s Dance Academy present The Magic Stick - a family show full of Indian dance, storytelling, music and stage magic.

When eight-year-old Diya receives a mysterious Magic Stick, she discovers she can see kindness come alive. Guided by her Talking Karam Tree, she sets off through the colourful Utsav Festival, meeting new characters and discovering how even the smallest good deed can create a ripple.

Warm, imaginative and full of heart, this is a lovely family show for children aged 6–12 and their grown-ups.
