This is the only regular and live jazz club for miles around and musicians will travel a long way to play here. Over the years the audience, many of whom are members, have seen all manners of styles, bands and personalities, so they are knowledgeable and appreciative, whether it is early, swing, modern, contemporary, funky, bluesy, duo, trio, quartet or big band. The club welcomes listeners of all
ages and provides comfortable seats and subdued lighting to set the mood. The bar serves alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as well as tea and coffee. Moray Jazz Club encourages young musicians an their have been a number of school workshops over the years, Some of the up and coming, young adult players make regular visitors in a variety of bands. A Moray Jazz Club band featuring Roger Niven- guitar, John Sharkey- Tenor Sax, recently had an outstanding gig at Belladrum on the Ice House/Jazz Bar Stage. The happy and sun blasted audience thoroughly enjoyed the blend of modern jazz and funk and even joined in the off-beat clapping of Unsquare Dance by Dave Brubeck. The band received a standing ovation, helped by the fact their were no seats.
