🏃‍♂️💨 15 DAYS TO GO... BUT WHO'S COUNTING? 😅

Our fantastic Creative Practitioner Ian now has just 15 days of training left before he takes on the mighty 10K in support of Out of the Darkness Theatre Company!

With every mile, every aching muscle, and every early morning training session, Ian is helping raise vital funds to support the creative opportunities we provide in our community. 🎭❤️

Of course, he hasn't been doing it alone...

Keeping him on track every step of the way has been our very own Tech Group member Steven, whose coaching style can best be described as "strict but effective!"

🤣 Rumour has it Steven has Ian running laps in his dreams, checking his pace at breakfast, and timing how quickly he ties his shoelaces! ⏱️🏃

With only 15 days to go, let's give Ian a huge boost as he enters the final stretch. Whether it's the thought of crossing the finish line, spotting Nessie, or knowing he's supporting a great cause, we know he'll smash it! 💪

🌟 Celebrating Scottish Learning Disability Week 2026 🌟

At Out of the Darkness Theatre Company, we are proud to celebrate Scottish Learning Disability Week and recognise the incredible contribution that our members with learning disabilities make to our theatre family every single day.

Our company is built on the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to be creative, develop new skills, build confidence, and shine. The talent, dedication, enthusiasm, and unique perspectives that our members bring to rehearsals, performances, and community projects help make Out of the Darkness the vibrant and successful organisation it is today.

Through theatre, our members have the opportunity to express themselves, form lasting friendships, learn new skills, and showcase their talents to audiences across Moray, Highland and Aberdeenshire. Whether performing on stage, helping behind the scenes, supporting productions, or contributing ideas and creativity, every member plays a vital role in our success.

Scottish Learning Disability Week is an important opportunity to celebrate the achievements of people with learning disabilities and to promote inclusion, equality, and understanding in our communities. We believe that the arts have the power to break down barriers, challenge perceptions, and create spaces where everyone can belong and thrive.

Today, we say a huge thank you to our members with learning disabilities for their hard work, commitment, laughter, creativity, and friendship. You inspire us every day and remind us that theatre is at its best when everyone has the chance to take part 🎭🎨🎤🎶✨

Together, we will continue to champion inclusion, celebrate talent, and create opportunities for everyone to step into the spotlight.

🎭➡️🏃‍♂️ From the stage to the starting line!

Our amazing Creative Practitioner Ian is swapping scripts for running shoes and taking on the Loch Ness 10K on Sunday 27th September to raise funds for Out of the Darkness Theatre Company and support the work we do in communities across Moray.

Every mile Ian runs will help us continue creating opportunities, building confidence, and bringing people together through the arts.

🌟 What a brilliant morning at Elgin Academy for our first YPI event of the new academic year!

Our Creative Practitioner, Ben, attended on behalf of Out of the Darkness Theatre Company and enjoyed speaking with lots of enthusiastic students who showed a genuine interest in the work we do and the difference our projects make in the local community.

For those unfamiliar with it, the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI Scotland) is an inspiring programme that empowers young people to learn about social issues, connect with local charities, and advocate for causes they are passionate about, with the opportunity to secure vital funding for community organisations.

It was particularly special to be back at Elgin Academy after previously receiving £3,000 thanks to an amazing group of their students who chose to support and represent our charity through the YPI programme to a judging panel. Returning and seeing so many young people eager to learn about local charities was incredibly encouraging.

The event also gave us the opportunity to reconnect with other fantastic local organisations and celebrate the positive impact being made across Moray.

Thank you to DYW Moray for organising the event, and to the staff and students at Elgin Academy for making us feel so welcome. We can't wait to see what this year's students achieve!

Our UHI Moray Performing Arts students enjoyed an incredible day at The Little Theatre, Nairn, immersing themselves in the world of theatre and gaining experiences that will support their journey in the performing arts.

✨ Welcome Back to our Performing Arts Students! ✨

As induction week comes to a close, we would like to give a huge welcome to all of our new and returning UHI Moray Performing Arts students.

It has been an absolute pleasure meeting you all, getting to know you, and sharing an exciting overview of the coursework, productions, and performances that lie ahead this year.

There is so much to look forward to, and the energy, enthusiasm, and talent we've already seen has us excited for what promises to be an incredible year ✨

Today made the perfect finale to our induction week as we headed off on an industry awareness trip to The Little Theatre, Nairn. A huge thank you to the entire team for their warm welcome, and especially to Mary and Jake, who made the visit such a fantastic experience for everyone 🤩

For many of our students, these are their very first steps into the world of performing arts, and it was invaluable to gain insight from another local theatre organisation.

Students had the opportunity to learn about the company, enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour, explore front of house and technical operations, and take part in an engaging Q&A session with the theatre team.

The day was rounded off with some fantastic team-building workshops, bringing everyone together and helping to build the strong sense of community that makes our Performing Arts family so special.

🎭 The journey is just beginning, and if induction week is anything to go by, we already know this year is going to be another one to remember.

Here's to creating, performing, learning, and making unforgettable memories together.
