A playful exploration of family and the roles we’re asked to perform
Dadi has come all the way from Karachi to cure this plague of anxiety in the UK, teaching them how to enjoy this life.

As a world wide renowned disc jockey who has headlined thousands of shows across the globe, nobody is more qualified to be your guru. Tonight she will transform your life, change your mind with her explosive DJ set. You will learn how to live with yourself, how to live honestly and dance through life 💃🏽

Inshallah her granddaughter can make it.

This is a character comedy/DJ set spinning tunes from the 80s to last week from Pakistan to the UK, so bring your mum, your auntie, your daughter and get ready for the night of the century!

You are encouraged to dance, but chairs are available for access.

Imaginate are working in partnership with South Asian Artists Scotland (SAAS) and Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland (PSS) to commission a playwright of South Asian heritage based in Scotland, to write 30-minutes of a script for children, to be shared as a rehearsed reading for delegates at Edinburgh International Children’s Festival 2027 (29 May - 6 June 2027).

The selected writer will receive mentoring, producing and artistic support, and an additional budget to work with up to three actors and a director. Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland will provide dramaturgical support and some free access to the Tom McGrath Writers’ Room (up to 10 days). South Asian Artists Scotland will provide a relaxed space to share and reflect throughout the project.

Aditya Narayan is an Indian-born poet based in Edinburgh. He is the 2026 Scottish National Poetry Slam Champion, 2025 Loud Poets Grand Slam Champion, and winner of the Roundhouse Poetry Slam, where he also received the Audience Choice Award. His work has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and explores migration, memory, language, and belonging.

His debut poetry pamphlet, 'My Name is a Two-Person Sport', is forthcoming from Art Riot Press.

Catch him at Voices Beyond Borders on Friday 11th September in Glasgow, a celebration of poetry, music, culture, and community, organised by Afro-Scottish Events.

We are so excited for New Sauce Scratch Night, a showcase curated and presented by South Asian Artists Scotland in association with NTS and Citizens Theatre! This collection of extracts from four new works by artists of South Asian heritage includes pieces which weave together theatre with dance, storytelling and spoken word poetry:

Sadia Sikandar is a multi-award-winning artist, photographer, activist, journalist, and Founder of Seham & Najma.

Through photography and visual storytelling, her work explores migration, identity, resilience, and belonging while advocating for social justice.

Her work has been exhibited internationally across the UK, USA, Pakistan, India, and Mexico, and she has received numerous honours, including the Scottish Media Award in 2025 and recognition as a Refugee Week Ambassador. She continues to amplify underrepresented voices through art, journalism, and community activism.
