🚗📚 A TOP 20 MILESTONE!

I’m delighted to share another milestone. On 26 Sept 2026, my book reached #19 in Amazon UK’s Automotive Humour Best Sellers — appearing amongst some very familiar names from the motoring world.

It’s particularly encouraging just days after the anthology was reviewed in Classic Car Weekly, which described it as a “thoroughly entertaining collection” and praised my “lovely, entertaining way with words.”

From poetry and prose to parody, monologue and the humour around cars, 52 original pieces reveal a world rarely seen:

Car Culture and Poetry.
Every new reader helps an independent author reach another audience.

Where Car Culture Meets Poetry! 🚗✍️

I’m delighted to share another milestone in the journey of A Poet in a Car Showroom.

My poetry anthology has been reviewed in Classic Car Weekly, in the 23 September 2026 edition (page 45). 📖✨
Reviewer Richard Gunn describes the book as:
“a thoroughly entertaining collection of literary works”
and writes that I have a:
“lovely, entertaining way with words”, with “a strong thread of humour running throughout the book.”
From Shakespeare, Spike Milligan and Monty Python to a poetic modern response to Janis Joplin’s famous Mercedes-Benz track — and even the Joyless Thunder of electric cars — the 162-page anthology brings together 52 poems, prose pieces, parodies, monologues and drawings, all exploring the wonderfully varied world of motoring.
And there was another welcome comment from Classic Car Weekly:
“there’s plenty of classic car-related material that will appeal to CCW readers.”
The book has an RRP of £19.99, but is currently available on Amazon UK for £11.75.
From taking some of these words onto the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe, to now seeing the anthology reviewed in the pages of Classic Car Weekly, the journey continues.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, listened, read — or simply wondered what on earth a Car Poet actually does! 🚗📚✍️

Part 06 — The Finale 🎶🚗❤️

The friends come together, the chorus returns at full power — and Zippy gets one final declaration of what the journey has become.

Here’s Part 06 of 06 of The Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong Song.

🎶 FINAL CHORUS
Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong!
Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong!
Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong!
Oh, you flitty Zippy Tang-Tong,
Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong!

🎬 THE BIG FINISH
More than a motor, more than a friend,
A song with a journey that will never end!

Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong!
(Grand pause)
We... love... you.. ❤️

Part 05 — The Resolution 🚗🎶🇮🇹

The journey rolls into Italy — new roads, new friends, and a different way of hearing what makes Zippy special.

Here’s Part 05 of The Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong Song — the Resolution Verse.

🎶 Near or far, it’s all the same,
Every road, a different game,
In every turn, in every bend,
We find ourselves again, my friend.
Not just wheels upon the ground,
But a hollow chime within the sound.
A Tang for the earth, a Tong for the sky,
The heartbeat of a friend passing by.
A softer song, a different way,
To carry us from day to day. 🚗🎵

The journey changes gear. It’s no longer about speed, noise or the thrill of the chase — sometimes it’s simply the realisation about how the journey makes you feel.

Here’s Part 04 of The Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong Song.

REALISATION 🚗🎶

It’s not the thrill you used to chase,
Not the fire that sets the pace,
But there’s a calm you start to know,
As all that tension starts to go
It’s not about the sound it makes,
Or how far on the road it takes,
It’s just the way it carries you… (pause)
Like it always was meant to do

Transition chorus

Oh you flitty Zippy Tang-Tong
Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong
We love you…

The journey continues with Part 3 of my original Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong Song 🚗.

If this is your first encounter with Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong, I'd love to know what you think.

🎵
Here, there and everywhere,
Through roads and evening air,
Every turn feels soft and light,
Day slips gently into night
Rolling on through high and low,
Letting all the worries go,
Somewhere in that steady ride,
You just feel it deep inside
🎶
Oh you flitty Zippy Tang-Tong
Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong
We love you…

There’s a rumble under the bonnet… 🚗🎶

Meet Zippy Zappy Tang-Tong.

This is Part 2 of my new original song — and this time we're straight into the music and Zippy's journey begins.

🎵 There’s a rumble under the bonnet,
Feel the pulse of a hidden sonnet.
Not a roar like cars before,
Just something different at the core…
Then the road opens up. Every mile becomes a drifting song, carrying hearts and dreams along.

If this is your first encounter with Zippy, I'd love to know your reaction.
Does it make you want to hear what happens next?

Have a listen, leave a comment and, if Zippy makes you smile, share the clip and help him travel a little further. 🚗🌍

Here are the opening introduction and first full chorus of my new original song.
