'The Grads' was founded in 1954 by some Edinburgh University alumni who were former members of the University Dramatic Society. Since then, the original members have been joined or

replaced by fresh generations of talent. The University connection has been retained, though, and we still meet in the Grads Association rooms at 18 Buccleuch Place.

Writer and director Hilary Spiers comments: “In Sweet, we witness a family whose wealth is based on the profits from slavery, torn apart when commerce and conscience collide. I particularly wanted to celebrate the contribution of largely unsung working class heroines who proved so pivotal in the abolition campaign’s eventual success and beyond. As Edinburgh, like so many cities, continues to wrestle with the legacies of slavery and colonialism, I was keen to explore the tensions through the imagined experiences of ordinary people caught up in these events.”

Fan of horror?

What a better way to indulge in the genre than coming to see Plano at the Fringe!

Plano is a horror comedy about sisterly love and the surreal fallout of a mother who shrink-wrapped her daughters and sealed them in a tiny box, while their husbands fill infinite space, living countless versions of themselves.
