Established in 1954, EGTG presents a versatile programme of challenging contemporary work and crowd-pleasing classics. Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group [SCIO] SC054270

'The Grads' was founded in 1954 by some Edinburgh University alumni who were former members of the University Dramatic Society. The University connection has been retained, though,

and we still meet in the Grads Association rooms at 18 Buccleuch Place. We tend to do four productions a year. A mix of contemporary to classic.

Our final show for our Fringe lineup... Plano!

A widow swears eternal devotion to her late husband – until an irate, blustering Three sisters sit on a porch as time hurtles forward and everything happens to them. Marriages bloom and wither. Children grow. Husbands vanish to Plano or sink into a widening hole in the yard. A relentless slug infestation creeps across the lawn. In suburban Texas, the sisters confront the strange plagues of domestic life, recounting memories that feel more like nightmares.

Plano is a horror comedy about sisterly love and the surreal fallout of a mother who shrink-wrapped her daughters and sealed them in a tiny box, while their husbands fill infinite space, living countless versions of themselves.

Tickets for Plano and all other Fringe shows are up on our website.

Show two of three for EGTG's Fringe line up... The Bear!

A widow swears eternal devotion to her late husband – until an irate, blustering creditor arrives demanding repayment of a debt. What begins as just an impolite visitation erupts into a ferocious battle of wills, wits and wildly inconvenient desire. Slammed doors, smashed furniture and loaded pistols give way to something even more fierce: love, as a duel of honour spirals into a reckless courtship neither combatant can truly control. EGTG's energetic, fast-paced, destructive rendition of Chekhov’s comedy farce: The Bear revels in the thin line between loathing and longing – and the thrill of crossing it!

Tickets up on our website, Plano cast being announced next week!

Our first of three Fringe shows this year... Sweet!

An original play written by Hilary Spiers. Edinburgh, early 19th century. The struggle for the abolition of slavery gathers pace. Widowed matriarch Nelly is newly converted to the cause, even though her family’s fortunes, along with much of the city, are built on the slave trade. Fighting powerful men with vested interests, including Nelly’s sons, who will stop at nothing to protect their wealth, Nelly must choose between conscience and family. Through her maid Jeanie’s eyes, we witness that struggle. Might the resourceful women exploit the notorious Scottish sweet tooth to advance the cause?

Tickets for all 3 Fringe shows are now up on the EGTG website! Stay tuned for cast announcements for our other 2 shows this August, The Bear and Plano.
