Good Morning!
We wanted to share some updates on LOTR following the event. Thank you for your patience – we’ve been trying to find a solution to what can only be described as a series of unfortunate events.
As many of you know, one person’s actions meant we had to end the event early. It was a great, lively evening (as always) and we were six bouts in when unfortunately one person ruined the fun for everyone, causing the event to get shut down and in the process being arrested by police.
Here are the facts:
• The venue that holds the license for the event took the decision to close early. This was completely out of our hands and we respect their decision given the nature of the assault made by said person on one of their team
• In the 8 years we’ve been doing this event, this is the first time we’ve had any kind of problem like this
• Nearly ~150 students have trained and competed
• Nearly 5,000 students and their families have enjoyed the evenings we’ve organised
All we can do right now is apologise – firstly and most importantly to the boxers who didn’t get to compete, but also to their friends and families who’d come to support them.
What we’re going to do is the following:
• We will donate the ticket proceeds for these 7 boxers to Midlothian Boxing Club Charity which helps to support young people in Edinburgh with mental and physical health
We, like you, are gutted about what happened. One person’s actions have ruined what was a great night. But we will move on with the above plan and meet again next year. If you are interested in next year’s event: https://bit.ly/3Nrz9K2
Do reach out on messenger to us if you have any questions – if not – thank you for your support and ‘see’ you on the Live Stream.
