It's Dementia Awareness Week (1β8 June), and we're celebrating the creativity, connection, and community at the heart of our dementia-friendly programme at NEA!
This year's campaign, led by Alzheimer Scotland, is themed around 'Better care, full stop' reminding how vital consistent, community-based support is for people living with dementia and those who care for them. By working in partnership with local people, and local groups and organisations, we're able to create welcoming activities that truly support our community and make a positive difference to people's lives.
From our Monday's Sunshine Social Club (supported by Meeting Centres Scotland) and Wednesday's intergenerational music and movement group with the Forget Me Notes Project to our Dementia-Friendly Film Club, we believe that these are so much more than activities, but spaces that create belonging and understanding. One of our participants described NEA as 'a second home for us', and that means everything to us.
Join us for the upcoming Dementia-Friendly Film Club screening of Summer Holiday on Thursday 25 June at 1.30pm (you can expect catchy 60s tunes, light-hearted charm, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere with refreshments and a short interval)

The beautiful collages you can see here are from a recent scrapbook workshop at Sunshine Social Club, led by Tortoise in a Nutshell. It was a joyful, creative session and we love how it came together, full of colour, personality, and shared stories.
