THANK YOU!

Thanks to you all who have made the event so special yesterday. We hope you had as much fun as we had.
Thanks to our slammers Adam Kammerling, Sophia Walker, Matt Macdonald and Catherine Brogan. You are incredibly talented and offered us a stunning performance. Thanks also to Damian Barr who was the perfect host for the night.

Today is the day! To get you psyched for tonight, a poem on Matt:

Matt Macdonald has been writing for years
most of it would drive you to tears
since starting performing he's written some rhymes
just don't ask him to perform at unsociable times

have we got news for you ...

Three Edinburgh Napier students are coming to the Book Festival on Wednesday to try and popularise their poetry. The new event which they are launching is called Impro Slam and will demand quick responses from the poets taking part.

Adam is a poet who began as a rapper
he is average-sized but as a child he was fatter
he's not very good at lad-banter
because he doesn't like being mean, 'na'mean?'

Last but not least: an introduction to slammer #4!

//Catherine Brogan started at the age of 6, winning gold medals for saying (other people’s) poems at the Feis in her home town of Omagh, Northern Ireland. She set up a poetry night, got into hip hop and MC´ing when studying in York. She has been supporting Scroobius Pip vs. Dan le Sac and Skinny Man. She’s been described as a witty and funny stand-out performer, and is now heading from London to Edinburgh to go off on stage like a firew

Performer #3? It's Matt Macdonald!

Matt Macdonald has been performing for nearly two years now, working on open mic and slam stages in Edinburgh, Glasgow and St. Andrews. He brings his attentive, emotionally driven work to any stage he can, and will be bringing his debut show to the PBH Free Fringe in August 2012, alongside a host of additional performances. He has been printed in two Red Squirrel Press publications Drey 3 and as a runner up in the James Kirkup Memorial Award for 2012 as well as in an Alan Ginsberg celebratory chapbook and in two issues of The Inkwell. Impro Slam will be his first improvised event.

#2 //Sophia Walker is a mental health worker who often engages in a spot of poeting. She has toured across Europe and the US but bases herself in Edinburgh because she's utterly reliant on constant sunshine. She's been published in a few places and won a few things but she doesn't like list bios cause they're embarrassing to write.//
