Caught

Is she coming or going
the game just the same,
where end results
they are the aim.
With the heavens now opened
and the rain pouring down
majestic in stature
she heads uptown.

Or maybe it’s downtown
either way she is fashionable,
but this just her way
looking so affable.
Oh what a story
it’s a girl in the rain,
just heading home
no need to complain.

Just a Drop

Care and attention
must apply at all times,
nurture and foster
to grow into its prime.

From one tiny seed
the mighty tree grows
just like a child
with nourishment shows

For without proper care
both will wither away
and that one single drop
could have well won the day

Tend now the garden
the ocean can wait
but the seed and the child
tend before it’s too late

Get Me Outta Here!

Can anybody hear me
I’m fighting for my life,
please come and rescue me
gotta get home to the wife.

I can feel the fires burning
as supper gets prepared,
I have a nasty feeling
I’m on the menu and I’m scared.

For I’m sitting on the dinner plate
awaiting here my fate,
if you don’t come very soon
I’m afraid you’ll be too late.

View From a Window

What can be seen from a window
as we stand here and stare with
our thoughts, as life it flashes before us
at times existence the cost.

Complexities all demanding
overwhelming in many degrees,
at times caused by young in their folly
can bring people down on their knees.

But other times not of their making
when fate often intervenes,
struck down by misunderstanding
no one knows just what it means.

For the mind can be all consuming
when troubled and misconstrued,
authorities struggle containment
when with pressure can be quick to
allude.

There is nothing outside the window
just the sea as it tumbles the shore,
the only thing that never changes
are the thoughts that came here before.

Blurred Vision

Intrigue is what I call it
beyond the dripping window
pane, for what can be
distinguished it must surely be
the same.

A city full of sparkle
imagination of the eye,
colours oh so gentle
is what you see when
you pass by.

Rows of people on the sidewalk
don’t look up they cannot see,
the beauty high above them
of the city’s artistry.

It may look like blurred vision
does it really have to be,
to view a city through wet windows
a new perspective can by seen.

Resigned

When the cards are stacked against him
it’s a game often denied,
as he tries to juggle peacefulness
but all around him chides.

He climbs that elusive mountain
leaving footsteps in the snow,
yes the odds are stacked against him
but has nowhere else to go.

Is it mother nature calling
as he trails along behind,
or perhaps each disappearance
of his family now resigned.

One thing it is for certain
he’s the beauty of the flock,
so best he keep on going
as opportunity does knock.

Title - The Last Look - Bighorn Sheep

Robert said :
In this scene I wanted to give the
quality of being on top of the world.
I have pushed the animals up to
the top of the picture, against the
sky. The big old ram stays protectively
in the rear and gives you one last
scornful look before he follows the
herd and is gone.

Times Two

Observational qualities
look up look up look up,
what you see in a big city
perceived and always pumped.

Reflecting in glass structures
is a world of double standards,
some people stop and stare
while others just meander.

In a city full of bustle
is where loneliness can begin,
can be seen in glass reflections
what we see pulls at heart strings.

The pull of the big city
draws the city slicker dwellers,
but the lure of the countryside
writes the book of story tellers.

Homeward Bound

Frozen in time the memory
when steam pulled into the station,
the noise, the smell, enticing,
was the lifeblood of every nation.

The scene straight from the forties
gabardine coat, hat and dog,
a genuine ticket office
will take you home for ten bob.

Hear the whistle blowing
it’s enough to make your heart swell,
as you climb aboard the carriage
what would the future foretell.

A future all electric
but trains just not the same,
no atmosphere about them
as enthusiasts exclaim.

Distorted

It’s all in the way the eye perceives
what I see here is hard to believe,
as the sun filters through a dewdrop
supreme, my mind takes me places
far away from this scene.

Light gets distorted when the sun
is in play a dewdrop obscured as
gold steals the day, for really we know
that this cannot last with the sun
rising high creates such a contrast.

This also the way things can seem in
our mind truth often confused results
not always kind, try then to focus on
what you know best when all those
who witness will gladly attest.

Enjoy now the morning as the dewdrop
prevails it won’t last forever in fact
it now pales, with the warmth of the sun
the earth it is nourished and blossoming
blooms once again how they flourish.

Iris Bloom

At the time of the year
when the Iris does bloom
the fields are alive with colour,
time then to harvest the bounty
for this is a time like no other.

Pickers employed from far off
lands come to work the fields
in droves, they know this their time
to capture and for them the rewards
they chose.

Pretty the sight when the Iris does
bloom when the colour blue fills
the domain, for this is the time to
remember and the fragrance not
one you can feign.
