The Edinburgh Drawing School A traditional Drawing School, based in Edinburgh Terms are 10 weeks long, following the normal academic calendar.

The Edinburgh Drawing School is a vibrant, full time drawing & painting School and a key component of Edinburgh's creative community. Focusing on traditional, taught, observational drawing skills, classes run throughout the day, 7 days a week, with evening classes Monday - Friday. Classes are 2.5 hours long, with a maximum of 7 people per class, and are tutored by professional, practicing artists

, using professional life models. We welcome adults of any age, and ability to come along and get creative! Subjects include Drawing for Absolute Beginners, Life and Portraiture drawing, Still Life classes, as well as Landscape Painting and Design tutoring, all suitable for beginners. With artist and tutor David Caldwell RP

This course will look at a range of drawing techniques and approaches with an emphasis on drawing from direct observation.

Line, tone, measuring, perspective, proportion and composition will all be studied, with Still-life serving as our primary subject.

We will look at art history for inspiration and learning, and study the work of artists such as Giacometti , Kathe Kollwitz, Cezanne amongst others….

This class is suited for teens who like a peaceful and approachable environment - it is not a noisy social class but one of call and reflection.

This September to March, David Caldwell returns to teach 3 classes with us, one being ‘Portrait Drawing for Beginners’

David is a wonderful draughtsman and tutor, with a very gentle approach to teaching. Working primarily from life, it is always a delight to see his drawings and the inspiration he gives to students around him.
