The Wee Studio The Wee Studio has now come to Edinburgh! I will now be teaching beginners pottery in my new location. Teaching classes in pottery in groups of 3.

Learn throwing, trimming and how to glaze the pots you make. I have 2 wheels for a couple of people to come try their hand, so send us a message and fin Newly opened ceramic studio in the old public toilets beside the swimming pool in Nairn. The wee studio is open to all ages to come and play with clay.

Wood fired salt glazed bowls i made in July earlier this year. Beautiful colours and gradients coming from the different positions the bowls are put within the kiln. testing out all the different slips and glazes Fergus has in his studio.

This is a clay incantation bowl inscribed with magical text. It was made in Iraq between the 6th–8th century AD and was used in ceremonies intended to ward off evil spirits 🔮

Spells, incantations and curses were often written on vessels like this in a variety of scripts – the inscription on this bowl is in Aramaic. The stick-like figure in the centre may represent an evil spirit.

Some magic bowls have been found placed upside-down, suggesting they may have been used as traps for demons http://ow.ly/ZxZu30oXaed
