A huge congratulations to 14-year-old Cailean, who plays with Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, for his phenomenal performance as the lone piper at Edinburgh Castle. As the front of the Parade departed from City Chambers on the Royal Mile, Cailean was playing from the Castle Esplanade at that exact moment, creating a truly special and symbolic send-off for thousands of participants taking part in the day. It was a unique moment in time, connecting two iconic locations at the very start of the Parade.
The significance of the occasion was also recognised by the Right Honourable Lord Provost of Edinburgh during his speech at the Mercat Cross, where he kindly referenced Cailean’s role in sending off the Parade. Many thanks for the wonderful shoutout and recognition of this special moment.
A special thank you to Dan Morey and the Edinburgh Castle team for helping make this moment possible.
Heartfelt thanks also to Graeme Watt, 8 Acre Films, for producing this footage and for supporting the Edinburgh Tartan Parade, alongside a fantastic team of camera operators and drone crew Captured Above Scotland 👏
What a wonderful way to mark one month since such a special day! ❤️🎶
