Fiona M Russell Artist I am an Edinburgh-based artist who paints in oil.

My work is inspired by the effect of light on the landscape and I try to capture a sense of peace in my paintings. Favourite subjects include the countryside and villages of the Mediterranean region, and the subtle light of northern Europe's woodland. My paintings often depict a sense of journey, both visually, and in terms of an exploration in the strong use of colour often found in the work of the impressionists and post-expressionists.
