SUNDAY SHOW UPDATE
We are bringing our Summer Party to Leith Mills this Sunday with fabulous features Faith Eliott and Shasta Ali. Get a ticket TODAY to support local artists!

Our final two Hame-ish Live acts... đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„ please welcome Louis Rive - Dolores Says No and welcome back Toy Hospital!
đŸŽ” DOLORES SAYS NO
A Glasgow-statue-inspired songwriter, who says no to being socialised into passivity, and no to the insidious forces that seek to blunt our critical faculties (thanks to bell hooks and Jimmy Reid). They write about obscure historical figures, football sometimes and public transport. No to the powers that be. No pasarĂĄn.
đŸŽ” TOY HOSPITAL
This band started in the bedroom of frontman Martyn Rollo Rose, where he recorded debut album Changed Priorities Ahead on his own during lockdown. Influenced by Midwestern emo and dour Scottish indie, the album trades between twinkly melodies and crashes of fuzzed-out guitar. Since then, a full band has formed (which until last year featured our very own Ed Ritchie on bass) to play many gigs and release a single, live EP, and a live version of Changed Priorities Ahead. For this show, they are playing as a duo- Martyn joined by Paul Grant.

SUNDAY SHOW UPDATE
We are bringing our Summer Party to Leith Mills this Sunday with fabulous features Faith Eliott and Shasta Ali. If you know you are coming, please buy a ticket ASAP!
Our first two Hame-ish Live acts... đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„ please welcome back Von Dodds and Sid Ozalid!

đŸŽ” VON DODDS
A local chanteuse who writes songs that are in turns dark, raw, beautiful, and humorous. Comparisons have ranged from Peggy Lee to Liz Phair to Portishead. She lives in the shadow of Arthur Seat and is planning to emerge with her debut single later this year.
đŸŽ€ SID OZALID
If you like silly, you will love Sid Ozalid. High energy, interactive nonsense for the whole family.
From the Edinburgh Fringe to international stages in New York, Paris, Melbourne, and beyond, Sid has built a legendary reputation for shows that are unpredictable, magical, and utterly unforgettable.
A wonderful blend of mayhem, magic, poetry, dad dancing, and mentalism.

As June approaches, here is more information about our fabulous poetry feature for the Summer Party- Shasta Ali!

Shasta Hanif Ali is a writer and poet. Her writing delicately navigates the legacy of race and heritage; where themes of memory and language interlace and disrupt. Shasta’s writing has been published in the Association for Scottish Literature, Federation of Writers Scotland, Sidhe Press among others. She has performed her poetry at the Edinburgh Lyceum, Push The Boat Out Festival, and Fringe of Colour. Recently Shasta was nominated as one of Edinburgh’s 100 trail blazing women past and present, and honoured in a mural which exhibited across Edinburgh.

It may not surprise you to learn that I [Ed] am a giant nerd, my latest fixation being my gig log spreadsheet. If you buy a ticket (which includes a meal) to our Summer Party at Leith Mills, I might even let you see it when it's finished...

Why am I talking about my gig log? Because our fantastic music feature Faith Eliott is easily in the top ten of acts I've seen the most! Behold their bio below...

Faith Eliott is a songwriter and visual artist. Born in Minneapolis, they moved to Scotland nearly two decades ago.
Through storytelling and world-building, they illustrate intuitive landscapes populated by hagfish, Pleistocene volcanoes, cursed memes, and late-Renaissance apocryphal monsters lurking in the aisles of Asda. Sonically, Eliott grounds themself in a stripped-back, lyric-driven songwriting approach that evolves through the recording process to incorporate orchestral elements—often contributed by frequent collaborator Robyn Dawson—along with electronic textures and found sounds.
Their most recent album ‘dryas’ was released on May 30th via Lost Map Records. It follows two previous releases, ‘Impossible Bodies’ (2019, OK Pal Records) and ‘Insects’ (2016, Song, by Toad Records), both of which received critical acclaim, including coverage from The List and The Scotsman, as well as national radio play on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction, and 6Music.

The Summer Party is on Sunday 14th June at Leith Mills. For the TICKET LINK which also has more details, see the link in our bio and the comment below!
