Announcing Cymera Loves Romantasy, the first romantasy-dedicated book festival in Edinburgh! 💞

Cymera Loves Romantasy will be a 2-day festival at The Pleasance on 17th & 18th October 2026, dedicated to exploring the full breadth of romantasy, dark romance and paranormal romance. Headline authors will include Chloe C. Peñaranda, author of New York Times bestselling series The Nytefall Trilogy.

We're thrilled to be working with , a q***r and disabled-owned bookshop that celebrates romance fiction, to run Cymera Loves Romantasy's festival bookshop.

A memoir in song by the Earl of Caladan, trusted adviser to the Padisha Emperor and beloved troubadour-warrior, the bard Gurney Halleck. Hector Kreeping's Book of Despair will perform at Cymera Festival on Sat 6th & Sun 7th June!

There is man chained to a book. Or, perhaps, it is a book chained to a man? It is a book full of stories. The most terrible and wonderful stories you will ever hear. Stories of misery and monsters, of capitated heads becoming UNcapitated heads and of people who – despite all appearances to the contrary – were dead ALL ALONG.

His name is Hector Kreeping and this is his Book of Despair. Dare you hear what’s written within?

An hour of rib-tickling and spine-chilling comedy spoken-word from the slightly cracked mind of Tom Black.
