This is the 22nd birthday card I've created for my nephew. I started making birthday cards for my nephews and nieces on his first birthday. I love creating these cards, but they get more challenging with time.

It's one of my favourite castles. Castle Urquhart sits on the banks of Loch Ness and has seen its fare share of battles (finally being blown up during the Jacobite rising) and maybe the odd water creature, but this ruinous collection of stone buildings creates a very pleasing aspect.

A catch-up with a good friend at the National Museum of Scotland (not the Sabretooth), and I enjoyed sketching some beautiful creatures. The bad rain forecast didn't arrive, so we headed out and sketched what was the Royal Infirmary. My mum was a nurse there for a few years in the 60s. Town was so busy.

I spent a lovely evening catching up with a good friend and sketching Claypotts Castle. Its one quirky building.

I spent a lovely week in Mull last year (2024). Mull is one of the bigger islands of the Inner Hebrides and has so much to offer. Such a stunning place. The Isle of Iona and the Abbey was beautiful, and Tobermory is such a picturesque town xx.

As it's the end of the year, I thought I'd share a few of my sketches from my holidays through 2024. The first post is of my holiday in Castle Douglas last May. Situated in the Dumfries and Galloway area, it's a beautiful area of Scotland with beautiful scenery, stunning old castles, and Scotland's only dark park (i think). It was a great place to visit.

Earlier in December, I donated a painting of Edinburgh Castle from the Grass market for a charity event run by the Corstorphine Community Centre. The day seemed to be a success despite the bad weather.

My last sketch is of the Capela de Carlos Alberto in the beautiful Jardin do Palacio de Cristal. I would say it was peaceful, but there was a massive book festival going on, and the crowds were impressive.

A quick sketch of the The Dom Luís I Bridge, which is an incredible double deck metal arch bridge that spans the river Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Pedestrians and trams cross at the top deck, which offers amazing views over Porto and Gaia.
