2025-26 was another big year for our LEARN strand! 👏 We reached 1,374 young people in our All Join in and Digital Orchestra Youth programmes across Scotland.

We worked in 18 local authorities to deliver school projects and training to teachers and instructors and partnered with 62 schools. This is delivering 1,010 sessions and over 3,000 hours of specialist time from our amazing freelance team.

Our Skills and Leadership programme trained 368 teachers, which is 131 more than last year!

These projects are proudly delivered in partnership with local authorities and schools across Scotland.

Well done to all the students on our Music Technology course, delivered in partnership with Edinburgh College Music & Sound Production.

Our tutor Paul Binning has done a brilliant job guiding all 7 students successfully through the course and each of them has achieved a SCQF Level 5 or 6 in their module.

A great opportunity for DDN artists to take a deep dive into your professional practice, explore and reflect, exchange ideas and grow, led by Marc Brew Company with support of the new DDN Training Network in Scotland. ♿️

Applications are now open for D.A.R.E – Disabled Artist Residency Exchange. A brand new initiative, this disabled-led residency will provide four DDN artists with the chance to develop their artistry and professional skills in a supportive environment 🕺

D.A.R.E is a four-day long residency open to four D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent dance artists based in the UK, with priority given to Scotland-based artists.

It's curated by Marc Brew Company and supported by the DDN Training Network, a national network including: Birds of Paradise Theatre Company, National Theatre of Scotland, Indepen-dance, Drake Music Scotland,Solar Bear, Paragon Music, Dance Base, YDance, Sonic Bothy, Cutting Edge Theatre,Waterbaby Arts SCIO, Lung Ha's Theatre Company, TripleC UK and Marc Brew Company.

This pilot residency will create space for artists to:

💡 Explore and develop your artistic practice

💡 Exchange ideas with other artists

💡 Engage in workshops led by disabled artists

💡 Build skills in professional development

💡 Reflect, rest, and reconnect with your creativity

Today is our second post showcasing our Digital Orchestra Youth projects to be included in the Aberdeen Performing Arts Light The Blue Festival last weekend in Aberdeen.

Throughout the whole festival, our Digital Orchestra North East group had their own compositions played as part of an exhibition collaborating with the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust. Young people in the hospital created artwork for the exhibition, and our musicians created their own music to accompany it.

Digital Orchestra Youth is gratefully funded by Creative Scotland's Youth Music Initiative Access funding, and The National Lottery Community Fund's Awards for All fund.

It was absolutely fantastic for two of our Digital Orchestra Youth projects to be included in the Aberdeen Performing Arts Light The Blue Festival last weekend in Aberdeen.

On Saturday afternoon our Digital Orchestra Central group who are based in Dundee traveled up to Aberdeen and performed live as part of the Takeover Day at Music Hall. They played a selection of 80s classic tunes and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

We had a wonderful time collaborating with the Merchant Sinfonia in Glasgow last month. Drake musicians performed in Meg Curlew's new work 'light rises, the sea will outlast us' for Full Orchestra and Digital Instruments. This was part of their summer concert at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall New Auditorium.
