Save the date: 25 years on the Grassmarket! 🎉

We opened our unique, purpose-built home in the heart of Edinburgh in 2001—which means we've spent a whole 25 years here, supporting dance artists, staging performances, running international exchanges and community projects, and holding dance classes in every style under the sun.

To mark the occasion we’re inviting you over for a celebration weekend!

Try a class from the past, explore the history of Dance Base, see a brand new work commissioned for the occasion, or get Hip 2 the Hop at our all styles dance battle...

📆16-18 October 2026
📍Dance Base, 14–16 Grassmarket, Edinburgh

Climate change adaptation funding 📢

We're happy to share that Dance Base has been awarded £57,556 for a programme of draught proofing, insulation and infra-red heating works, as part of a new National Lottery-funded pathway programme.

The fund is helping cultural and creative organisations across Scotland adapt the buildings they own to the impacts of climate change.

The fund, co-designed and managed by Creative Scotland and public sector infrastructure body, the Scottish Futures Trust, is providing eight organisations with a total of £347,520 to make practical improvements to the buildings they own, and adapt to the impacts of climate change while generating learning to inform future investment in Scotland’s cultural and creative estate.
