Another Captivate Announcement!!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is back.

The Spiegeltent cancellation meant we needed a new venue. A new venue meant we needed another show and what better show to bring back!

Captivate Cast and Venue Announcement!

We were informed a couple of weeks ago that The Famous Spiegeltent would no longer be coming to St Andrew’s Square for Fringe 2026. It was a bit of a shock to say the least. A number of Fringe venues reached out to us to try to help and we very much appreciate that. In the end we made the rather brave decision to invest in setting up another space at Edinburgh Academy. We are converting the beautiful Oval Hall into a fit for purpose Fringe venue and we can’t wait to share with you what we are going to put in there.

First up is Into the Woods… and now you get to meet our incredible cast!

One of Sondheim’s most loved and magical musicals, Into the Woods weaves together familiar fairytale characters with beautiful music, humour, adventure and plenty of unexpected twists along the way. We have assembled an unbelievably talented cast filled with both familiar Captivate faces and exciting performers joining us on this journey. The level of talent in this company is something really special and we cannot wait for rehearsals to begin and for audiences to see these characters come to life.

Onto our final announcement of our Dear Evan Hansen cast for our Fringe premiere 2026!

Delighted to announce that the role of Jared Kleinman will be shared by Seamus Cross and Youssef Basir. We have watched Seamus grow over the years into the fantastic performer he is today, and we cannot wait to welcome Youssef to the company.

Jared Kleinman is Evan’s sarcastic, quick-witted family friend. Bold, cheeky, and unapologetically blunt, he provides much of the show’s comic relief while still playing an important part in the unfolding story.

This show will be special and certainly not one to miss.

Alana Beck is a driven, intelligent and fiercely determined student who is always striving to make a difference. Adding both humour and heart to Dear Evan Hansen as she becomes caught up in the story’s emotional whirlwind.

We are so excited to welcome the incredible Aaron Crockford and Shaun Newson to the cast of Dear Evan Hansen - and they could both attend the photoshoot!

Connor is a troubled, misunderstood teenager whose anger masks deep loneliness. He is desperate to be found. His story sets in motion the events that unfold and his pain exposes themes of isolation, grief, and the human need for connection.

We are delighted to have Robert Moyes taking on this role! You may recognise him as the striking Demon Barber of Fleet Street in last year’s Sweeney Todd!

Making this a brilliant contrast, a quietly powerful presence in the story - a father navigating grief in his own way, often struggling to express emotion while trying to hold his family together. His journey is subtle, honest and deeply human.
