The Great Scottish Flute Night - Edinburgh 2016

Hi, a wee plug for the Edinburgh FluteFling coming up 4-6th April.

The weekend kicks off Friday 4th April with the wonderful Hamish Napier Music and Jordan Neil in concert, the only chance in the Central Belt to catch them on their Speyside Tour.

Support comes from Online Academy of Irish Music founder Kirsten Allstaff with Tom Oakes and Edinburgh’s own Freya Rae leads the Carpe Ventis ensemble from the Scots Music Group.

Hamish, Kirsten and Freya will be leading workshops on Saturday 5th and Kirsten also on Sunday 6th.

There are just a last few workshop spaces remaining, so make sure you’re not disappointed.

An amazing weekend for flutes, whistles and dancers coming up 19-21 April in Edinburgh as FluteFling celebrates 10 years.

Headlining is the Calum Stewart Trio in Concert, featuring Sophie Stephenson and Luc MacNally.

Plus instrument and dance workshops, and sessions too!

A wee note of events for flutes and whistles coming up 12-14 May in Newhaven, Edinburgh as FluteFling returns to in-person events.

A Friday concert from new powerhouse duo Ali Hutton (pipes, low whistles, guitar) and Tom Oakes (flutes, guitar) kicks off the weekend, joined by special guests.

A day of workshops follows on Saturday, with Tom Oakes (Waterstreet) Sharon Creasey (Hidden Fermanagh) and Davy Maguire (Belfast).

The weekend marks the Edinburgh launch of The FluteFling Collection of traditional and original tunes for flutes, whistles and other melody instruments.

There will be sessions all weekend, no doubt with a Scottish-Irish flavour. We hope to see you there.
