It’s a change of pace for me but gives me an opperchancity to try something out … it’s giving me Dennis the Menace + Minnie the Minx vibes, which isn’t a bad thing.

I had an excellent time at the weekend with my Advanced weaving workshop with a regular attendee of my weekend workshops who hails from Fort William.

Over the weekend we prepared a 3.2 metre warp in a fantastic contrasting colours on a 8 shaft Ashford Wheels and Looms Katie loom. Prepared work sheets were discussed + expanded upon, with achievable goals set out. It was exciting to see + the student left with confidence with the the tasks set out + I really look forward to seeing the results of this students exploration of these exciting weave structures!

Students participating in the advanced workshops have the loom on loan for a longer period of time so there’s ample time to play!

How cute is this!

I’m all set up for this weekend advanced weaving weekend where we will explore differing weave structures on an uber cute Katie Loom … this workshop is all about exploring differing weave structures on a straight draft over 8 shafts, with a provided set of work sheets + samples, with time + space allowed to develop + explore your structures based on the information given to produce your own beautiful + original cloth!

These workshops are a step up from my introductory weave weekends + would suit someone who wants to brush up, hone or develop their own weave structures over 8 shafts.

How wonderful + lovely is this! The golden scissors got a chance to cut off two rug pieces from the rug loom at the top of the PickOne studio … this is a fun + funky couple of pieces which uses up both collected + bought in fabric scraps to make two unique rug pieces, one of which is destined for a chum + the other is destined for the wall.

I’ll be excited to see how these pieces look once they have been tidied up + hemmed!

October got off to a grand start with our two 4 hour long workshops over the weekend Coburg House as enthusiastic students forged ahead with the task in hand … to make two unique + beautiful homeware items for their home, specifically - Potholders/trivets. Everyone was pleased + chuffed with the outcome of this short punchy wee workshop, with all achieving fantastic colourful results!!! Great work by all!

For future pot holder workshops I have 6 new dates up on the PickOne website for the beginning of next year from January through to April 2027. Gift vouchers for these courses are available for those wishing to give an experiential gift for this festive season, nothing like planning ahead!

Oops … it’s been such a full on cheery week with visiting chums from Australia + my regular teaching + weaving commitments that I forgot to post after the weekend weave workshop!

This months cohort of students were once again a fairly international set with students originally hailing from Wales, France + Siberia! A winning mix if ever there was one! Students all achieved with colour + structure with lively discussion through out. A grand weekend!
