Royal Mile Edinburgh

I’ve wanted to do a sketch of the Royal Mile for many years, and finally started! Interestingly, it was an unusually long picture frame I up cycled that sparked the idea. Funny where inspiration comes from.

There are many Closes & Courts that a curious mind needs to explore, and I wanted to capture them all. 🚶✍️

Day One, or One Day?

A motivational post by a couple of days ago. It made me think.

We all put stuff off, (one day I’ll do…)

Or,

We bite the bullet and crack on (Day One).

Today was my Day One. I started sketching again. I’ve not picked up this sketch pad for nearly 7 years.

So, I went for a walk - pad & pens in bag, yeti flask and a chocolate orange at the ready. It was great. I’m a bit rusty, but today was a great Day One!

Happy New Year All!!
These images were inspired by a collection of vintage wooden cotton reels from a much loved late relative. I wonder what they were used to make or repair?? The graphics are things of beauty and easily overlooked.
