Ingo Schultze-Schnabl!

The submission "Brain Feed No. I. – XII." by Ingo Schultze-Schnabl beautifully encapsulates the heart of the "Human Response" project by questioning the ability of AI to handle ambiguity, interpretation, and creativity - elements that are fundamentally human.
The series of black and white drawings can be viewed as a metaphorical representation of the interplay between humans and AI in the creative process. Just as a human brain is offered and processes bits of information, AI is fed data to generate output. However, where humans can embrace ambiguity, interpreting it creatively and drawing meaning from it, the ability of AI to do the same remains in question.
Schultze-Schnabl poses a crucial question: can AI create something that is deliberately ambiguous and open to interpretation without it being meaningless? This query speaks directly to the "Human Response" project's exploration of the balance between human creativity and AI-generated art. It suggests that while AI can mimic the process of creativity, it might not fully grasp its essence.
The choice of a simple, traditional medium (ink on cardboard) for a complex, contemporary issue adds another layer of significance. It contrasts the simplicity of traditional art-making techniques with the complexity of AI algorithms, and in doing so, underscores the depth and authenticity of human-made art.
Overall, this submission contributes significantly to the conversation that "Human Response" seeks to encourage - about the role of human creativity in an era of AI and technology.

🎨 CALL FOR ARTISTS 🎨

Artobotic invites you to be part of our upcoming exhibition, 'Human Response.' In an era where artificial intelligence is increasingly intertwined with our lives, we are seeking to celebrate the irreplaceable value of human-made art.

We believe that now, more than ever, it's crucial to highlight the unique perspectives, emotions, and creativity that only human artists can bring to their work. 'Human Response' aims to explore the complex relationship between human creativity and AI, and we need your contributions to make this possible.

We're looking for artwork that embodies your personal response to this pivotal moment in time. How do you, as a human artist, interpret and express the world around you? How does your work contrast with or complement the precision of AI? How can your art inspire, provoke, and engage audiences in ways that AI cannot?

Whether you're a painter, sculptor, illustrator, photographer, or work in any other medium, we want to hear from you. We welcome artists of all backgrounds and experiences to apply.

To submit your work for consideration, please follow these steps:

1. Post a photo of your artwork on Instagram.
2. Tag in your post.
3. Use the hashtag .
4. In the caption, tell us a bit about your artwork and your personal 'human response' to the intersection of art and AI.

The selected artworks will be featured in our 'Human Response' exhibition and will also have the opportunity to be included in Artobotic's unique art vending machines, making your work accessible to a wide audience.

Join us in celebrating the power of human creativity. Let's show the world that while AI can replicate many things, it can't replicate the heart, soul, and spirit of a human artist.

Deadline for submissions is 23rd June. We can't wait to see your .

Eric Millikin will be headling with this year along with a number of others (TBC)- Eric uses technology extensively in his work, including AI. Eric was one of the first artists to contribute to Artobotic back in 2016. This image is of - Cyborgs for Rebellion" (2022) it’s an infinitely rotating series of AI-generated, poetry-reading, three-dimensional portraits recently projected over two nights onto an oak tree in a public park in Richmond, Virginia. This park is where enslaved people gathered for Gabriel’s Rebellion 222 years ago. By my calculations, this oak tree was present for this gathering of rebels. I created the portraits with a new system of artificial intelligence that I custom coded and trained on images of Gabriel Prosser, Nat Turner, John Brown, and other Virginia slave rebellion instigators, as well as robots from America’s most critically acclaimed and top-grossing science fiction films. Each of the poems was generated by another AI I created, that writes poetry based on historical documents like court records that quote the participants of the rebellions, and “Kindred,” Octavia E. Butler’s 1979 novel of time-travel to a slave plantation. Part of the idea behind this project was to take AI that is more typically used for surveillance, control, and the reinforcement of existing societal power structures, and instead to try to teach an AI to imagine a more rebellious, inclusive, freedom-loving future humanity.

Medium: Artificial intelligence, 3D modeling and animation, video projection on tree trunk

Frederick Jones known for his intricate etchings, wood engravings, and collages, marks the beginning of the roll of applications with an early submission of five remarkable pieces, each echoing a profoundly human quality.

The intricate details, the raw emotion, the undeniable nuance in every stroke and texture, encapsulate what it truly means to be human - a testament to the creative spirit that AI, in all its algorithmic brilliance, could not replicate.

Jones, bypassing the traditional selection procedure due to a well-earned promise, showcases his masterpieces, poised to engage and provoke dialogue in the intersection of art and AI. Each piece is a celebration of the artists' relentless spirit in pushing the boundaries of what is possible, setting the stage for the immersive and evocative experiences to come.

This is but a taste of what awaits in Artobotic's 'Human Response.' As submissions continue to roll in, we stand at the threshold of an exciting journey into the evolving landscape of art and artificial intelligence.

Stay tuned for more, and remember - every work of art is a conversation. Are you ready to join the dialogue? "
