OPEN CALL FOR ACTORS
BearGirl: Edinburgh Fringe 2026 🐻

We are SO excited to announce that we are now recruiting 2 actors in our upcoming 2026 EdFringe production of ‘BearGirl’ by Emery Schaffer!

SHOW INFO
🗓️When: Performances August 5th-31st (excluding 17th & 24th) @4:20pm

📍Where: Venue to be announced soon!

📖Rehearsals: Edinburgh, July (subject to cast & crew availability)

SYNOPSIS
Bear suits, bereavement, and big scary feelings... oh my. When a grief-stricken widow struggles to cope with her husband’s death, she finds comfort by donning a bear costume. Thus, BearGirl is born: an unfeeling, thick-skinned beast who doesn’t care what happens to her next. But when the voice of her lost love starts to haunt her, she’s reminded of a past mistake that she desperately wants to outrun. Can BearGirl ever truly disappear? Or will reality turn predator into prey? A new play about making peace with the beast within, written after ‘The Bear’ by Anton Chekhov (1888).

We are looking to cast two roles- BearGirl & The Player- and are seeking actors that are available for a month-long run at the festival. Please note this is a paid opportunity (flat fee + profit share). We are an emerging company operating on a tight budget, and though we cannot afford a higher rate of pay at this time, it is important to us for those involved to have a minimum guaranteed rate on top of a profit share based on sales.

We are looking for Edinburgh based performers (or within reasonable commenting distance) as we unfortunately cannot provide accommodation or cover travel costs at this time.

If you are interested in learning more and submitting, all information can be found in our Audition Pack via the link in our bio. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We can’t wait to hear from you!

Something BIG is coming…. 👀

It’s been a minute but we’re back and SO excited to announce our newest production coming to the EDINBURGH FRINGE 2026!

BearGirl
Written by Emery Schaffer

ABOUT 🐻👧
‘Bear suits, bereavement, and big scary feelings, oh my. When a young, grief-stricken widow finds herself as the victim with unwanted attention, she copes by donning an unlikely and weirdly sentimental bear costume. And so BearGirl is born: an unfeeling, thick-skinned beast of a woman who doesn’t care that you’re staring at her, because it’s not really her. As she navigates life as a new bear-woman hybrid, she also figures out how to deter unwanted interactions, inconvenient feelings, and help from willing neighbours and friends. But when the voice of her husband starts to haunt her, she’s reminded of a mistake she made in her past that she’s desperately trying to escape, and in turn, questions if moving on is even in the cards. Can BearGirl truly ever disappear into her new identity? Or will her reality make the predator into the prey? A new play about love and hate, desire and guilt, and reclaiming how to be yourself when it’s all been stripped away. A modern retelling of ‘The Bear’ by Anton Chekhov (1888).’

We are so excited to announce this new project and can’t wait to get started and share more about the process! But for now, we need YOUR help.

We have just launched our Crowdfunder page to make the show happen and would be so grateful for any and all support! Every little bit truly does help, and if you aren’t able to donate, spreading the word is just as helpful!!

Check out the link in our bio for more info (and be sure to check out the cool rewards too).

THANKS for reading, and thank you to for these amazing photos! Stay tuned for more info :) 💙

THE DAHLIA FILES RETURNS

Oh HEY there, we’ve got news! We’re so excited to announce that The Dahlia Files is BACK in Edinburgh this August! If you missed us in Brighton now is your chance!

THE DAHLIA FILES
PBH Free Fringe Edinburgh 2025
Written & Performed by Trystan Youngjohn
Directed by Kate Stamoulis
Produced by Maria Goikhberg

“Elizabeth Short believed in the inherent goodness of people even when she had been given so many reasons not to. She moved freely around the world knowing that the universe would catch her if she fell. Until it didn’t. A gruesome unsolved murder, a young woman dead before her prime, and an icon reborn known as ‘The Black Dahlia’. After years of media speculation and true crime podcasts, The Black Dahlia has never been able to tell her own story, that is, until tonight. Part chilling mystery, part experimental cabaret, ‘The Dahlia Files’’ takes audiences on a ride through one of the most famous unsolved cases in true crime history, and asks us to question who’s complicit and more importantly... whodunnit.”

🗓️WHEN: August 2nd-12th @1:10pm
📌WHERE: Banshees Labyrinth, Chamber Room
🎟️TICKETS: Free! Just come along :)

We are so excited to bring the show to Edinburgh and we can’t wait to see you there! Details are in our bio and mark your calendars so you don’t miss out!
