Preston Lodge High School stopped by FUSE to get a real taste of retail + hospitality careers 💼🍫💄

Led by one of our Senior Employment Coordinators, (and former Preston Lodge pupil), 6 students explored behind the scenes at St James Quarter, from beauty counters to sweet treats and everything in between.

Wondering what “business support” actually means?

It’s a little bit of everything, which is exactly why I love it so much.

Literally every day is different. Some days I get to be a creative and design our materials, and other days I’m channeling my strategist for our marketing plan. Often, I’m analyzing the data to see what’s working best for us, our brands, and our candidates. Other days, I’m problem-solving in Helix, wrestling with spreadsheets, and figuring out, “How can we do this more effectively and efficiently?”

Many days, I am the unofficial tech support. Some days I’m tweaking CVs to help people land the jobs they want, and sometimes I even get to be the talent voiceover for Style (still swooning over that moment, ✨). You might also catch me talking all things AI for our workshops.

Then there are the days Harry and I team up for pet sessions around the Quarter, though let’s be real, some days Harry just brings a little chaos into the office.

Truly I’d be lost navigating all of this without my immediate team. Working alongside them has been such a gift, I’ve grown in more ways than I’ve ever expected.

My fragrance game is stronger thanks to , my business ideas are basically unstoppable because of , and my knowledge of golf has definitely improved… (slightly against my will) thanks to .

Beyond our core crew, I’m always working closely with the teams at SJQ and to make sure our work generates the absolute most impact.

I’m out connecting with brands, and I’m showing up in the community at job fairs, schools, arts festivals, council roundtables, workshops, and forums.

But every single day, I am here to support those who need it and it has truly been the best year yet. 💛
