THERE IS NOTHIN’ LIKE A DAME! - and we’re looking for ours!

Stage Door is searching for a brilliant Panto Dame to join the cast of our professional production of Dick McWhittington at Portobello Town Hall, Edinburgh.

We’re looking for someone to bring Semolina Sludge to life - our warm-hearted, larger-than-life cook, and one of the comic linchpins of the whole show.

This is a role for a performer who can command a stage, drive the pace, work an audience and build a genuine connection with both children and adults. Big personality, brilliant comic instinct and proper panto energy are very much encouraged!

Semolina should be bold, mischievous and gloriously theatrical, while still having plenty of heart underneath it all.

If you’re an experienced performer who knows how to get an audience on your side - or you know somebody who would be absolutely perfect - we’d love to hear from you.

Interested? Email [email protected] to find out more and express your interest.

And please do share or tag someone who you think might just be our Dame!

We'd like to say a huge well done and THANK YOU to everyone who auditioned to dance in our 2026 panto - Dick McWhittington!

Across four amazing sessions, we saw so much incredible talent, confidence, energy and enthusiasm. Every single dancer who stepped into that room should feel enormously proud of what they achieved.

Thank you to everyone who came along and gave it their all - we’re very grateful. Our team now has some very difficult decisions to make… a very lucky position to be in, but certainly not an easy one! We'll be in touch with everyone next week! 🧡
