Theatre Arts Exchange

Theatre Arts Exchange A brand new Edinburgh Fringe venue from Middlesex University's Theatre Arts team, for theatre that's innovative and ambitious from the ground up.

Brand new to Edinburgh Fringe this year and created by the groundbreaking Theatre Arts team at Middlesex University, Theatre Arts Exchange is the new home for theatre that’s innovative and ambitious from the ground up. Our unique programme of amazing theatre, comedy and installation work brings our trailblazing graduates and associate artists; alongside other companies from across the country who

share our passion for collaboratively-made, boundary-breaking theatre; together for the first time at the world’s biggest arts festival. Our first line-up for 2016 spans bold new writing, socialist magic, jaw-dropping visual and physical theatre, irreverent comedy as well as some amazing installations and durational performances, and includes 14 world premieres. Part of the School of Media and Performing Arts, the Theatre Arts programmes at Middlesex have long held a reputation for the teaching of theatre as a dynamic, collaborative artform, taught by world-class practitioners and researchers with alumni who go on to break boundaries and shape the future of theatre as we know it; including Tangled Feet, Jenny Sealey MBE, Improbable, Told By An Idiot, Alan Carr, Trestle and Thrust, to name a handful.

Our critically acclaimed venue will return to Edinburgh Fringe in 2018. Click below to learn more about our plans.

December already! We're still reviewing our first year before making any decisions about the future, so we're not currently accepting applications for future festivals. Watch this space and our website for news.

Heartfelt thanks to the amazing companies who brought our stage to life, the nearly 2,000 audience members who we did it all for, to Gayfield Creative Spaces who hosted us with such trust and friendliness, to the incomparable team at Edinburgh Festival Fringe who solved every problem we threw at them with speed and a smile, and to our absolutely incredible venue team who came with us for this mad journey, got the job done and made it so much fun.

Fab mention for us and the "tiny wonder" of TRINITY in this week's Observer.

"Cross is a pleasure, a riot and a marvel to behold from start to finish. An absolute delight." Four stars for Scenes from an Urban Gothic from TV Bomb.

Review of Scenes from an Urban Gothic | An astounding and sometimes surreal look at metropolis life - without words.

"Intimate and imaginatively choreographed." (The Scotsman) Sonder plays today and tomorrow at 3pm.

"Intimate and imaginatively choreographed." (The Scotsman) Sonder plays today and tomorrow at 3pm.

Like tiny figures trapped in a snow globe or, more accurately, a cube, the performers in this well conceived physical show march through the city, steely-eyed stares fixed on the mid-distance.
