Welcome Leo season!

My lover is a Leo and I am a Leo lover. Yes, they love attention but they deserve it. They are vibrant and magnetic and once they claim you as a friend, they are loyal and loving. They are creative, charismatic and charming. Maybe they can be stubborn and arrogant too, depending. I'm willing to tolerate it for the most part. It's easy for me to say though because I'm an Aquarian, their opposite sign and so, well balanced to their disposition.

I love creating both digital and paper collage for different reasons. Which one I prefer depends on the day and how I'm feeling. I don't think I could choose a favorite. I'm glad that I have the skills to do both and I think in many ways they compliment each other. I can make a paper collage and duplicate it as a digital collage if I need to make something that can be merchandised. My paper collages are like fine art prints. They are one of a kind.

I'd love to hear about which one you prefer either to look at or to create. And I wonder which pros and cons I've forgot...

Because I love to dream and trance into alternate realities. Because the doors of perception are always open. Because childhood memories are portals to our shadowy psyche. Because we can unlock the blocks that keep us closed. Because these transformative times can make it hard to relax and I just want to relax.

June was 🔥🔥🔥
Backpacking in Colorado, the Jersey Shore, a wedding in Philadelphia, secret water holes, snake encounters and beautiful moons.
The month was filled with more adventure than actual art creation but sometimes we need to live to inspire more art and I've really loved the pieces I created this month. They truly feel like they came from a more inspired, authentic and centered space.

I just finished reading When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill. It's a feminist novel that takes place in the 50s in the States where women spontaneously start "dragoning", an allegory for female rage, suppressed power and liberation from the patriarchy. In an era when women had limited choices and were told to be small and quiet and over their husbands, instead they unleash their true identities and true joy as powerful fire breathing creatures. I recommend it. The book inspired this collage. All the dragon images came from the free public domain art of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, multicultural tapestries.

Solstice is a midyear reset. Remember that most of the sh*t you spend time worrying about is completely pointless. What's real? Sunshine, rivers, grasshoppers, storm clouds, friendships, home, love, joy, gratitude. Our brains compartmentalize instead of taking it all in at once because it's too much, but maybe we're just not looking at it the right way. I hope you have time this week to reevaluate your whole f*ckn life and throw away all the dumb crap to make room for the real good kind.
