What an event! 🎉

Our conductor wanted to share thanks to everyone involved in a thrilling performance:

“We’re still buzzing from the amazing time we had at just two weeks ago for our concert hall debut, featuring a pair of works in Mahler’s 1st Symphony and Dvořák’s Cello Concerto that we were thrilled to present to an appreciative audience of over 400 people!

As a group we’re so grateful to everyone who attended and helped make this a special occasion for all of us, and we thank you all enormously for the support, it means so much to us to be able to play such fantastic works to the Edinburgh community.

Enormous thanks as well to our brilliant soloist, who was simply amazing in performing the Dvořák with us!”

We’ll be back shortly with more performances later in the year and on into 2027, but for now we’d love to share some of our favourite pictures from the concert, as well as some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of our rehearsal in the afternoon 👀

🎻 BIG NEWS 🎶

With our upcoming concert taking place ONE MONTH today, we wanted to announce the special news that the next Edinburgh City Orchestra performance will be inside a new venue for the orchestra: The Queen's Hall!

Originally opened as a chapel for the local community in 1824, it was redeveloped and unveiled as a concert space 1979. Since then, performers from all across the world of every genre have performed there, including Nina Simone, David Byrne, and Adele. Up until now, the Edinburgh City Orchrstra has performed at St Gile's Cathedral in the Royal Mile, whom we look forward to continuing to work with in future concerts.

In the meantime, the orchestra is proud to share this exciting milestone in its development as we get ready to perform in yet another cultural icon of our home city.

🪅 Thundering into 2026, the Edinburgh City Orchestra is proud to unveil its upcoming concert set to take place on SATURDAY, 21st FEBRUARY! Joined by the outstanding for Dvořák's beautiful, though at times haunting, Cello Concerto. 🎶

Alongside this, Mahler's first symphony, nicknamed appropriately TITAN, will close out the night. A work flowing with such spiritual grace and mass that it was described by the composer as rising up “as if from nature itself”!

🎫 All of this in the same night and the tickets are ALREADY ON SALE: get yourself a seat right now with the link in our bio or by going to thequeenshall.net!!! 🎟

Last Saturday, the Edinburgh City Orchestra were delighted to perform once again at in front of a packed audience! Launching our 2025/26 season with a night of Beethoven and Sibelius, it felt incredible to bring so many people together from across the city to experience the warmth and thrill of these works as a community!

Congratulations to .stevens03, who danced through Beethoven's Violin Concerto with such magic and majesty, and took us all along for the ride of our lives! Thank you to every single player who has given so much to the orchestra in the past weeks by attending rehearsals and never holding back with your playing, be it in a rainy afternoon rehearsal or the concert itself!

And finally, a special thanks to for once again leading the orchestra and working so hard to bring the performance together in the weeks and months before now.

We can't wait to see you again and it won't be before too long!! See you in February, but keep your eyes on our page for some very big news before then... 👀
