Over the years people have asked if my work was inspired by David Hockney. I have always said that this was more subconsciously than by design. However, in 2024 I painted a series of East Neuk outdoor pools: “Surges and swells, St Monans”, “Ripples and rollers, Cellardyke“ and “Poolside panorama, Pittenweem” which were inspired by Hockney’s pool paintings. I am saddened to hear of his death. RIP David Hockney (1937 - 2026) and thank you for all your work and inspiration real and subconscious 💙
