Updates to come on turtle and table, but for now .... A memorial piece.
My wonderful Gran passed a few weeks ago, joining my Grandpa who was waiting for her. So this is my little art tribute to them both.
My Gran always loved my art and encouraged me many times throughout my life to 'do something with it'. My response was always that I wanted to do it for enjoyment and it might ruin it if I added the pressure of doing it for others. But really that was code for 'I don't think I'm good enough, others might not like it'.
Well I got brave over the last few years, and what I realised is that it doesn't matter if others don't like it, it matters how it makes me feel when I'm doing it. Art is an expression of the inner world, there is a reason why they use it as therapy! So sometimes I do it in joy, sometimes it's a release of pain or sadness, and sometimes it's an expression of a scene in my head. Not everyone is going to like what we do, and that is ok! The right people will connect with it, and they will feel what we are expressing, or just connect with our vibration, and that's a wonderful thing. Many times I have viewed others art and it's given me 'that feeling', much like when someone sings a song and the lyrics feel like they are coming from our own heart. Expression is important. If we don't express, we can't connect.
I read a quote a few years ago;
'It's often not about being good enough, it's about being brave enough'. How true is that. How many of us are holding back on gifts because we have had criticism in the past or we are afraid of what others will think?
Big thank you to my Grandma for your support over the years, not just on the artwork but with all things, and now 'I'm doing something with it'. Xx
