The best reviews we’ve ever received.

Not from audiences — although those mean the world to us too.

These words came from the playwrights whose work we had the privilege of bringing to the stage.

Pat Davis.
Tabitha Mortiboy.
Tallulah Brown.

When the writer is sitting in the audience, watching their story in someone else’s hands, it matters.

We’re proud of the work we’ve made, the stories we’ve told, and the trust placed in us along the way.

Theatre that matters.
Stories that shape us.

One of the notes I find myself giving actors time and time again is: "Stop acting."

It sounds like a strange thing for a director to say, but in a small theatre the audience is close enough to spot the difference between something that's truthful and something that isn't.

At both The Lamb Theatre in Eastbourne and the Harvey Warehouse Fringe Theatre in Lewes, our audiences are often only a few feet from the stage. It changes the way actors perform and the way audiences experience a story.

We've just published a new blog exploring why intimate theatre hits differently, why small venues can create such powerful experiences, and why our heart has always been in producing theatre in these kinds of spaces.

The footage in this reel is taken from our production of East of Berlin at The Lamb Theatre.

We are incredibly proud to introduce the cast of The Revlon Girl.

Set in the months following the Aberfan disaster, Neil Anthony Docking’s powerful and deeply human play tells the story of a group of Welsh mothers searching for laughter, connection, and hope in the aftermath of unimaginable loss.

This October, as the 60th anniversary approaches, we are honoured to bring this extraordinary piece to the stage.

Some stories stay with you long after the final curtain.

The Revlon Girl has sat on our “one day” list for years — a play with humour, heart and an extraordinary ability to find humanity in the darkest of places.

As we begin this journey towards October, we know this is a production that will ask a great deal of its cast — and perhaps something of its audience too.

Our opening night falls on the 60th anniversary.

Tickets are now on sale — https://www.thegreenroomproductions.co.uk/the-revlon-girl

What Does Theatre Mean to Us? | Part 9 – Ben Pawley

Ben sees theatre as the place where creativity, storytelling, and human connection collide — where chaos and calm exist side by side, and where a group of individuals becomes something much bigger together.

“Theatre is a place where stories come alive.

I have always loved thinking and being creative, and theatre can bring every element of the creative arts together under one roof. Poetry, prose, spoken word, silence, song, music, chorus, monologue, stillness, movement, chaos, light, dark, colour, and shade... anything and everything can happen on a stage, it could be profound, emotional, magical, comedy, tragedy...

Every story leaves a different imprint on the viewer and player, and I love being a part of storytelling which has that effect!

There is a thrill of performing live theatre which you don't quite get anywhere else. The build-up normally involves a lot of meticulous planning, direction, preparation, and repetition, with everything coming together in the nick of time.

Through rehearsal, a group of misfits becomes a company; a team in which each person knows their own part and all work together to tell the tale.

During a performance, it can feel like all eyes are on you under the spotlight. That brings some nervous energy that can send things off kilter, and that is when you have to rely on spontaneous creativity and quick-thinking from your company to keep the storytelling alive.

Creativity like this is a curious combination of calm and chaos, which resonates with me on a bigger perspective too. We obviously want everything to go exactly as rehearsed and scripted, but that's just not real life.

I think that's what Shakespeare meant when he said that the whole world is a stage.

As players we have to depend on those around us to listen, notice when things have gone off course, and help steer everything back on track.

Stories are for telling. Life is for living. Theatre is the roof under which both happen at the same time.”

What Does Theatre Mean to Us? | Part 8 – Becky Filtness

Becky sees theatre as an escape — a chance to step into another reality, share stories, and grow alongside the people who matter most.

“Theatre to me is an escape. A chance to experience a moment of alternate reality.

Not always comfortable, but always mind-expanding.

At GRP I'm there with my best friends. Sharing these stories, transporting others, and growing together.”

We first read The Revlon Girl about six years ago, after it was recommended to us by a good friend of the company working in the West End.

We were planning to stage it in 2020. It didn’t happen, and then life shifted things for a while.

When we came back to it, we realised that 2026 marks 60 years since the Aberfan disaster. That wasn’t something we wanted to pass by, so we made the decision to wait.

Our opening night will now fall on that anniversary.

We’ve written a blog about how we found the play, why it stayed with us, and why this now feels like the right time to bring it to the stage.
