Not long to go until our March screening !!

OFFICE KILLER is photographer Cindy Sherman’s only feature film , starring Carol Kane as a meek secretary whose life is defined by the mundane horror of office culture.

When Dorine Douglas’ job as proofreader for Constant Consumer magazine is turned into an at-home position during a downsizing, she doesn’t know how to cope. But after accidentally killing one of her co-workers, she discovers that murder can quench the loneliness of her home life, as a macabre office place forms in her basement, populated by dead co-workers.

Fairy stories, subcultures and ancient traditions haunt our modern cultures and ideas, but are they joyful sprites or more malevolent tricksters? 🧚‍♂️

Mass hysteria alert! 🤭✨THE FEMININE URGE is a series of screenings in Brighton themed around alternative depictions of femininity, where violence, psychopathy and dissociation define female leads.

The selected films look at the changing nature of feminine archetypes, with a move towards the ‘girlboss’ as a loyal subject of capitalism. In late-stage capitalism, girlboss culture relies on social expectations of femininity to enact a quiet evil - maintaining the status quo through a veil of softness, care and subjugation.

The women on screen in THE FEMININE URGE represent a dystopian end-point for the deadly combination of quiet servitude and internal rage that capitalist-feminism feeds on, but in some cases also a cathartic and pure form of evil through urge fulfilment that rebels directly against societally-forced identities.

We’re expanding to the midlands! ⚡️We’re looking for new creative friends, venues and galleries to visit and host in, open access makers spaces, artists we should know and any other recommendations you have! 🖍️

📍Based in South Staffs (near spooky Cannock Chase and medieval Lichfield) and looking all around: Brum, Black Country, Derby, Notts and all the way up to Stoke and Manc…

You may or may not know that Toad Lickers is core run by two of us.🧑‍💻 While one stays and continues our work in Brighton ⛱️, the other is heading home to the Midlands to renovate a narrowboat for a life on the cut (yes my accent is already coming back 🙏).

💭We’re interested in folklore, nature, internet culture, heritage, social history, pop culture, storytelling and the spooky, to name a few!🌿

🤝We started TLC as a way to connect and work with people we admired, host events and get to know our community (and try and make the arts more inclusive). We want our collective to be fluid, so anyone can be a Toad Licker. 🐸

Our dream is to one day go all over the place with our workshops and events.🚀 Head to our website if you want to find out more about working with us or having us come do a workshop. ✂️ We’re also open to collab with other DIY projects and creatives.
