At Morkus Carpentry, we're proud to highlight one of our successful projects from last year—a stunning rear extension featuring a beautifully designed skylight!
Our goal was to reduce costs for our client while still delivering an elegant solution. As we all know, circular skylights can be quite pricey, so we opted for a creative workaround by designing a square skylight that mimics a circular appearance.
Here's how we did it:
1. We started with a standard square skylight frame.
2. After pre-fitting the skylight, we carefully cut round plywood strips to shape the corners.
3. Once we rounded everything off, we applied plasterboard and added flexible angle trim at the bottom, with a flexible stop edge at the top.
4. The finishing touches included plastering and decoration to complete the look.
With this approach, we successfully achieved a beautiful circular effect without breaking the bank!
Have you ever thought about alternative ways to design a circular skylight? We’d love to hear your ideas!
