What a run ⚡️🎸

The Retford Musical Theatre Company production of We Will Rock You at the Majestic Theatre was nothing short of spectacular… an electrifying theatrical experience that had audiences on their feet night after night. From the very first guitar riff to the final curtain call, this production delivered the perfect fusion of powerhouse performances, iconic music, and outstanding technical theatre.

Behind the scenes, the Majestic Theatre production team proudly delivered the full technical and creative backbone of the show, providing lighting design, set design, audio design, flys, stage crew, spot operators, and collaborating with Luke Wade at Liveworks for incredible video content that elevated the production to another level.

Every cue, transition, and visual moment was carefully crafted to transform the theatre into a full-scale rock arena experience, immersive, explosive, and unforgettable.

The lighting design brought concert-level energy and atmosphere to the stage, while the custom-built set created a bold futuristic world that perfectly supported the fast-paced action of the show. The audio design delivered crystal-clear vocals and powerful live sound that filled the auditorium exactly as Queen deserves.

A huge credit also goes to the incredible backstage teams whose precision and professionalism kept the production running seamlessly every single night. From complex scene changes to flawless spot operation, every department played a vital role in bringing this rock spectacle to life.

The response from audiences was phenomenal, with standing ovations, incredible feedback, and an electric atmosphere after every performance.

This production was proof of what happens when passionate creatives, talented performers, and dedicated technical teams come together to create something special 💥

WE ARE ON THE LOOK OUT 👀

We’re looking for experienced technical theatre volunteers to join our award winning production team, at the Majestic Theatre Retford 🎭

If you’ve spent time backstage, up a ladder focusing profiles, programming cues at midnight, wrangling cables, calling shows, or solving “impossible” problems five minutes before curtain — we want to hear from you.

We’re especially interested in people with experience in:

Lighting (design, rigging, programming, operation) ⚡️

Sound (live mixing, playback, system setup) 🎤

Stage Management 📝

Set build, Flying & stage crew 🛠️

AV & projection 🎥

Production management support 📆

This is a volunteer opportunity ideal for:

Former theatre professionals who miss the buzz

Freelancers between contracts

Retired technicians who still love the craft

Students or graduates wanting to stay hands-on

You’ll be part of a supportive, creative team where your technical experience is genuinely valued. No egos. No drama (well… only on stage).

Ballads by Candlelight ✨🕯️

What a night at The Majestic Theatre.

From the first flicker of candlelight to the final note, this one was pure atmosphere. A stunning blend of powerhouse vocals, incredible musicianship and that intimate glow that transforms the space into something really special.

Huge credit to everyone behind the scenes who made it happen, from technical prep and lighting design to stage management and sound. Shows like this might look effortless, but there’s a lot of hard work, planning and teamwork that brings that magic to life.

Proud of our production team for delivering another beautiful evening for our audiences.

Sparky has been in doing some essential maintenance, expertly assisted by Barry, whilst Vinnie has been busy prepping the theatre for Jive Talkin’s sold-out performance on Saturday 🎶💃
