Why is it okay to challenge terms & conditions you agreed to?

This hasn’t been triggered by any client of mine! But I’ve seen a lot of professionals in the beauty industry sharing these similar thoughts, so I thought I’d also raise awareness đŸ™đŸŒ

Sadly it’s so common that professionals in the beauty industry are expected to absorb costs for hours of work either last minute cancelled or ‘no-showed’ because of clients.

We’re expected to reply to your cancellation at 9pm & reschedule you, we’re expected to not charge for that gap, we’re expected to sit at work twiddling our thumbs when we have a zillion other things to do. We’re expected to earn nothing whilst being sat at work.

Is there any other jobs like that? I’ve never had one!

Can you imagine if you went to work for the day but because there was an IT issue & you didn’t work for 3hrs, they’re docking your wage.

I don’t think you’d be happy.

I sometimes have clients questioning my terms, & I understand why, but I don’t have time for clients who are going to mess me around, exploit my good nature & treat me like a charity.

I had that when I first started.

I remember I lost almost ÂŁ2k in my first 10 days of being a PMU Artist, I sat at work in my cabin for hours, hours wasted, heating bill through the roof & a full day of no shows! đŸ€Ł & thank god I went through that at the beginning, because it forced me to kick my arse into shape & act like a business not a charity.

There’s a few words that my clients repeatedly use to describe how they feel after having their Brow Transformations with me.

“Freedom”

“Relief”

“How can brows change your life? Now I know they can!”

“You listened”

“Relaxed”

It fills my heart up knowing I’m helping.

The clients that open up about how they feel when they arrive in clinic? Quite the opposite to the above statements in most cases.

“Nervous, anxious, worried”

“Apprehensive”

“I hide my brows behind my glasses, fringe or any other facial accessory I can find!”

“I struggle to draw them on because I can’t see or my hands shake”

I’m forever saying it, & will continue, loud enough for those at the back!

YOUR PMU BROWS AREN’T MEANT TO LOOK THE SAME FOREVER 👀

It doesn’t make me happy when people say their PMU Brows have lasted 20 years.

It often means they need laser removing, actually.

This is what 22 months of healed permanent makeup looks like
 compared with the same brows after an annual top-up.

& this is completely normal!

Permanent makeup is designed to fade gradually. Your skin, lifestyle, sun exposure & natural skin renewal all play a part in how your pigment fades over time.

But here’s something I really want my existing clients to understand


*Maintaining your brows is generally much cheaper than letting them fade away completely & needing to start again.

Your annual top-up is currently £150–£195, depending on when you had your treatment & the work required.

Leaving your brows until there’s very little pigment remaining can mean a more extensive appointment, & in some cases, starting again at the full treatment price.

Why pay more later when you can maintain the beautiful foundation we’ve already created? 💗

If it’s been 12–24 months since I last worked on your brows, this is your reminder to get them checked & book your maintenance appointment when they’re due.

Let’s keep those brows looking their best!

She nearly cancelled.

Not because she didn’t want new brows.

Because she was nervous about having them!

When you’ve seen bad permanent makeup online, it’s very easy to think:
“What if they look too dark?”
“What if they look fake?”
“What if I don’t recognise myself?”
“What if I regret it?”

She came into my clinic feeling exactly like that, so we didn’t rush anything & we went through a very thorough Consultation so she knew what to expect FULLY.

We talked through what she wanted, what she didn’t want, how I was going to approach her brows & what she could expect throughout the appointment.

I don’t believe you should ever feel like you’re being pushed into permanent makeup.

& then we created these đŸ’đŸ»â€â™€ïž & the tears of relief & joy were present from both of us!

Microblading with soft shading / hyperrealism.

The goal wasn’t to give her a completely new face, it was to give her brows that looked like they belonged there.

Permanent makeup brows don’t have to look fake, blocky or heavily tattooed. When they’re done by the right artist, they can heal beautifully soft, natural-looking & perfectly suited to your face.

But just like your natural brows, they still benefit from a little maintenance!

The bit you don’t see on Instagram 😼‍💹

Building Nixie hasn’t been easy, & I don’t think enough people talk about what it actually takes to build something you’re proud of.

The sleepless nights. The financial pressure. The sacrifices. The moments you question whether you’re capable of doing what you’ve set out to do.

& then getting up the next morning & doing it all again anyway.

Revamping this space into a clinic & opening my new clinic’s doors almost 18 months ago was one of the proudest moments of my life. But getting there took a lot more than choosing paint colours & buying furniture 😂 (plus it was emotional saying goodbye to my first cabin clinic!)

It took resilience, trusting myself, making uncomfortable decisions, & learning to keep going, even when things didn’t go to plan.

My Buddhist beliefs have taught me to trust the universe & accept that everything is as it’s supposed to be, even when I can’t see the bigger picture yet.

I don’t believe everything happens easily, or that you can simply wish for something & it’ll appear.

I believe you have to do the work, make the sacrifices, & be willing to grow through the uncomfortable bits, & the Universe will then reward you with more success that creates even more stress đŸ«©đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïžđŸ€Ł

& I haven’t done all of this just to build a successful business.

I’ve done it to create something meaningful. A space where women support women. Where my clients feel safe, understood & confident enough to be themselves.

Something I wish I’d have experienced when I had my beauty treatments, hair appointments & PMU in my early 20’s 
 but never found it.

Every woman who trusts me with her face, her confidence & her experience is a part of why I keep pushing forward.

So if you’re sitting there dreaming of something different, whether that’s a business, a new career or simply a happier life


Please don’t convince yourself you’re not capable before you’ve even tried.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to start.

Back yourself.
Trust the journey.
Do the work.
