East Leake Amateur Players

East Leake Amateur Players ELAPS is an Amateur Dramatics group located in the Village of East Leake in Rural Nottinghamshire.

The group is self funded and run by its members who comprise more than 40 in number with ages ranging from 10 to 80! ELAPS typically hold 2 major productions a year although the Junior group may sometimes boost this to 3 or 4

The main productions take place in May and December

, with the December production being Pantomime based. There are many roles to play in an Amateur Dramatics group and often more of them are backstage rather that those that result in appearances on the stage, we're always interested in new members who want to come along and join us. Yesterday lots of us were celebrating the marriage of 2 fabulous Elaps members who met at Elaps when they were both juniors! A wonderful day of love & laughter.
Today we put aside our slightly sore heads to have our dress rehearsal of Blackadder. Even the father of the bride was doing his bit backstage!

This afternoon our fabulous juniors performed "A Baa-rilliant Trip" to friends & family. All money raised from this afternoons show will be donated to East Leake Village Hall. It was a fantastic performance from everyone involved.

This evening we attended the annual awards evening for "The Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire" (basically the local panto oscars).
"The Witches of East Leake" by Elaps was nominated in an incredible 15 categories, winning Best Original Script, Best Set Design, Best Comedy Act, Best Principal Girl, Best Principal Boy and getting runner up in Best Overall Panto! We are so thrilled that our production received so many nominations & awards as we were up against some fantastic amateur dramatic groups from across Leicestershire.
Next up we have our production of Blackadder which will be on 14th, 15th & 16th May. Tickets on sale very soon!
