We had a wonderful talk in the village hall on Sunday to a sold-out audience. George Nash delivered an engaging and relaxed talk that took us on a trip back to the communities that lived in Wales 6000 years ago and what a fascinating talk it was.

History surrounds us every day, especially here in Dyffryn Ardudwy where we have easy access to so many Neolithic and bronze age sites. Since I’ve lived here, I’ve become fascinated. The talk highlighted neolithic rituals, spiritual landscapes, and the megalithic art connection. What personally fascinates me is how we lived all those years ago. We played music. We carved drawings onto stone. We made art. It was a society that had burial and ritual surrounding death. I can’t imagine a world without art, community and ritual and neither did these people. This is a distinct period that established the foundation of modern society.

A huge thank you to George Nash for visiting the area and talking to our community. Special thanks also to the organisers of the village hall and our volunteers. It was seamless and I would highly recommend booking the hall as a venue for your upcoming events. Thank you all!

Cawson ni sgwrs hyfryd yn neuadd y pentref ddydd Sul i gynulleidfa lawn. Traddododd George Nash sgwrs ddiddorol a hamddenol a aeth â ni ar daith yn ôl i'r cymunedau a oedd yn byw yng Nghymru 6000 o flynyddoedd yn ôl ac am sgwrs ddiddorol oedd hi.

Mae hanes o'n cwmpas ni bob dydd, yn enwedig yma yn Nyffryn Ardudwy lle mae gennym ni fynediad hawdd i gynifer o safleoedd Neolithig ac Oes yr Efydd. Ers i mi fyw yma, rydw i wedi fy nghyfareddu. Tynnodd y sgwrs sylw at ddefodau Neolithig, tirweddau ysbrydol, a'r cysylltiad â chelf megalithig. Yr hyn sy'n fy swyno'n bersonol yw sut roedden ni'n byw'r holl flynyddoedd hynny yn ôl. Roedden ni'n chwarae cerddoriaeth. Roedden ni'n cerfio lluniau ar garreg. Roeddem yn gwnued celf. Roedd yn gymdeithas a oedd yn claddu, gyda defod o amgylch marwolaeth. Ni allaf ddychmygu byd heb gelf, cymuned a defod a doedd y bobl hyn ddim chwaith. Mae hwn yn gyfnod penodol a sefydlodd sylfaen cymdeithas fodern.

Diolch yn fawr iawn i George Nash am ymweld â'r ardal a siarad â'n cymuned. Diolch arbennig hefyd i drefnwyr neuadd y pentref a'n gwirfoddolwyr. Roedd yn hwylus iawn a byddwn yn argymell yn gryf archebu'r neuadd fel lleoliad ar gyfer digwyddiadau sydd ganddoch ar y gweill. Diolch i chi gyd!

Katy Jones will be joining us in the gallery on a week-long residency towards the end of the month and we can’t wait. Katy also visited here last year on a residency to walk the Taith Ardudwy in preparation for the exhibition. Whilst out walking she spotted a dragon on the hilltop range of Dinas Oleu above Barmouth. Here is the final result for you to enjoy.

This land is quite special as it is the first land ever to be gifted to the National Trust by local philanthropist F***y Talbot in 1895.

To see more of Katy’s work visit the website here: https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/katy-jones-taithardudwy

You can meet Katy in the gallery on the 27 June, 30 June and 2 July.

Bydd Katy Jones yn ymuno â ni yn yr oriel ar breswylfa wythnos o hyd tua diwedd y mis ac allwn ni ddim aros. Ymwelodd Katy â ni y llynedd hefyd ar breswylfa i gerdded Taith Ardudwy i baratoi ar gyfer yr arddangosfa. Wrth gerdded gwelodd ddraig ar ben bryn Dinas Oleu uwchben Abermaw. Dyma’r canlyniad terfynol i chi ei fwynhau.

Mae’r tir hwn yn eithaf arbennig gan mai dyma’r tir cyntaf erioed i gael ei roi i’r Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol gan y ddyngarwr lleol F***y Talbot ym 1895.

I weld mwy o waith Katy ewch i’r wefan yma: https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/katy-jones-taithardudwy

Gallwch gwrdd â Katy yn yr oriel ar 27 Mehefin, 30 Mehefin a 2 Gorffennaf.
