Hi everyone,

We hope you all enjoyed the Freshers Fair yesterday and are as excited as we are about our first event of the year! As advertised yesterday tickets for our Diwali session (which will be running alongside our taster session) are going on sale today! All you need to do is fill out this google form and make a payment of £3.50 over PayPal via the link in the form. Instead of yearly subs, we will just be asking for a small contribution to materials for each session - that way you only end up paying for the ones that you attend!

For our Diwali session, we'll be using glass paints to decorate jars as candle holders. Electric tealights will be provided (college room friendly)! For those who just want to do the taster session, we'll be making bunting for your rooms; we'll also have the materials for pocket squares (which you can wear at formals!) if you'd prefer - the materials for this part of the session will be provided free of charge! :) Of course if you'd like to make both tealight holders and bunting/pocket squares, there will be no extra charge for the materials to do so (just the £3.50)!

Thanks very much, see you on Saturday! :)

Please make payments for the above mentioned session via the following link: paypal.me/castlecreative Please note that our treasurer is Olivia Hesketh, so the PayPal account you are requested to make payments to will be in her name

Delighted to announce that following our AGM, Mariam Rashid and Olivia Hesketh were elected as our President and Treasurer respectively. Massive thanks for all the amazing work done by the group this year, and we're can't wait for the immensely exciting future of the arts in both Castle and Durham.

Ideas floated around even included a trip to Paris - you heard it here first...

Spent a wonderful day in York with Trevs Art Club looking at some gorgeous art (amid less gorgeous weather).

Two arty updates from the Durham University Centre for Visual Arts and Culture:

1. Looking for volunteers in early June to be art guides for a 'Bailey Art Tour' that is being planned. The idea is to start at somewhere like Hatfield and move down the Bailey (Chad's, John's and Cuth's) looking at the University's art collection in each college. This will include working with CVAC and the curator of Durham University's Western Art Collection. Sure to be eye-opening!

2. CVAC is working with Trevelyan College and Auckland Castle on a symposium and exhibition of the works of Jonathan Parker. It will be held on 28th April 2017. Should be of interest to those who like portraiture or are interested in the history of Durham colleges (Parker is closely associated with Trevs). This is an invite only event

If you are interested in either drop us an e-mail at [email protected]!
