Thanks, Richard. I’ll take it from here. Yesterday I did a silly video of me talking to camera about an upcoming set build. Why am so building a set when you follow me for sculpting tools? Because it’s one of those “artist” things. I have this idea in my head and I NEED to create it so I can move on. I’ve talked about it before. Scroll down and find that reel. If you want. Or not.
Basically I have a strong desire to build the Orca from JAWS. Creatively it’s been in the forefront of my mind for years (So just build it then!). So flick to the end of these pictures to see all of the real world props they used during production that I’ve collected over the years to make it possible for me to recreate this piece of cinema history.
Over decades I’ve evolved from sculpting the shark, to building miniatures to now wanting to build a full sized version. I haven’t finished any of those things I started on this path and I’ve come to terms with not finishing stuff - those projects were purely stepping stones to this.
You don’t have to finish something for it to be finished with. Sketches, sculptures, models or stories. Whatever.
So to me and to you - don’t beat yourself up about those unfinished projects. Maybe it’s not meant to be finished. Maybe, might not be, but maybe it’s just a chapter before that other thing. The thing you’re doing now. Not finishing stuff is fine. But if it gets under your skin so much that you think about it day and night then it might be worth pursuing.
