Duns Play Fest DunsPlayFest26
Bringing Brand New Theatre to the Borders. Friday 1 - Saturday 9 May 2026

11/06/2026

Let us share a bit more of what we do and hope to do at DunsPlayFest. We believe we are a community festival worth investing in. Whether that be time helping us organise the nine days of theatre magic or coming along as an audience member, or maybe offering to support us in other ways... why not sponsor a company? An Intern? A Stage?!
Have have a look at what we are creating here!

Each year we find a way to support a young artist from our community with a no strings attached award in honour of the late Hugo Burge, who sponsored the first few years of the prize. This year we had another worthy winner!

Logan Robertson (Logan Tobertson) is a dancer, actor, singer, and musician, on his way to study at the Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts. He has been an integral member of Duns and District Amateur Operatic Society for the past five years, as a performer, choreographer, and committee member. He’s been a regular performer at our festival with both Duns Players and LJ Dance Academy - Duns, with whom he also helps to teach dance class with younger pupils. We love his generosity onstage, his cooperative and caring approach to performance, brilliant camaraderie, and his passion and dedication. He is both bold and humble and we are proud to say he is from Duns!

We are deep in the lands of writing reports for wonderful organisations that supported our project this year. But let us keep showing you photos of the amazing event that was DPF26!

We were so lucky with the weather for our Family Day event at Duns Castle Estate on the Bank Holiday Monday, a really warm and sunny day for our festival!

Thanks to Stacie Amelia Arts for the photos.

This year we were able to to support a new project led by Karen Anderson and BYT.
3 Plays was the culmination of a Borders Youth Theatre BYT competition where young people submitted their own short plays for production. They were amazing!

Have a read of what parents and participants said!

“The unique opportunity this year, for the children to write their own plays and see them brought into production, has been an experience and opportunity beyond words.”

“To have their work validated in this way and at such a young age, can only be an inspiration for them as they continue through life.”

“I think PlayFest is fantastic for nurturing local creativity and BYT exemplifies what is possible! This year's 3 play project was a monumental effort - and the pieces written by the young folk had real imagination and comedy and zip to them!”

Fancy joining our team? We're recruiting volunteers for DunsPlayFest 2027!

We are looking to replace our retiring trustees and to extend our pool of volunteers to join our lively Operations Group. We are particularly looking for people with a passion for theatre, finance experience, and experience working with charities, but if you have a skill or knowledge to offer please get in touch! Even if you have had little contact with theatre, but would like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. DunsPlayFest is dedicated to inclusivity, we want to share the magic with all! There will be a role for you in our team.
