Dunoon - just one week to go until our next edition of Cowal Comedy Club on Friday 29th May! We're bringing a completely stacked lineup to Dunoon Burgh Hall, headed up by the brilliant Stuart McPherson.

McPherson is the host of the Some Laugh podcast, star of BBC’s Scot Squad and has a multitude of other TV and radio credits to his name as both writer and performer. You’ll absolutely love his brand of comedy, as the reviews can testify: ‘Elegantly crafted, full of ludicrous description and hilariously ratcheted-up.’ (The Scotsman); ‘if you’ve never seen his stand up, it’s time to make that right’ (The Times).

Supporting Stuart is Chris Rutter, a former BBC New Comedy Award contestant who regularly appears at top comedy clubs such as The Stand and Monkey Barrel Comedy. He was recently chosen by the Stand to be one of their ‘Stand 5’ – a group of up-and-coming acts who the famous club have chosen to make their debut at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Completing the bill is Shannon Brooke, an Australian comedian who has wound up in Edinburgh – via Berlin! A champion roast battler who is known for storytelling and silliness, Brooke is looking forward to making her Dunoon debut.

The host for the evening will be Dunoon’s own Roddy Gordon, who is resident compere at Blackfriars Comedy Club in Glasgow and was nominated for the Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award as part of Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2024.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the first ever Laughwinnoch Comedy Club in The Three Churches - aka Garthland Arms on 14th March. It was completely sold out, and we hope you’ll agree it was a great night!

If you want to follow our acts, they are Chris Forbes, Roddy Gordon, Jay Lynch and Gita Blaze. Thanks also to Morag and everyone at Lochwinnoch Arts Festival for supporting the event.

If you enjoyed it - would you come again if we did this in future? We’re hoping to put more of these events on to let everyone in the village have a regular laugh - watch this space for details!

With one week to go until Laughwinnoch Comedy Club rolls into Lochwinnoch, all tickets (online and in-person) are completely sold out! Thanks to Lochwinnoch Arts Festival for putting on the event, and the brilliant people of the village for showing such enthusiasm for it! We can't wait for you to see the talents of Chris Forbes, Jay Lynch, Sarah Bradley and Roddy Gordon

Because the tickets are free, we anticipate a small number of no-shows on the night - so we will be operating a "waiting list" system to try to fit a few more folk in.

Here's how it works:
- from 7pm onwards, you can arrive at The Three Churches and stick your name down on the waiting list;
- if anyone doesn't show up by 8pm, we will offer their spot to whoever is next on the list;
- same applies if we're able to squeeze a few extra bodies to stand at the back of the room;
- worst case scenario is you don't get in to the gig, but you still get to have a lovely pint in a lovely pub; you can't say fairer than that, can you?

See you next Saturday for a cracking night of stand-up comedy!
