ART IS A TRADE is officially happening — and I need your help to spread the word.

This whole idea started with a visit to the Banana Block at Portview Trade Centre in East Belfast. Standing in that space, I could see it clearly: a drop‑in event that celebrates the makers, tradespeople, tinkerers, fixers, hobbyists, and creative households that keep Belfast’s working‑class creativity alive.

Thanks to funding from the Belfast Bank of Ideas, and support from EastSide Arts, I now have the backing to bring this to life inside the Banana Block.

The idea is simple:
Show the real creativity that happens in sheds, garages, kitchens, workshops, and living rooms across Belfast.
Not polished, not pretentious — just honest, hands‑on making.
(If you’ve seen the wee video, you’ll know exactly what I mean: everyday creativity, pride in your craft, and the stories behind the work.)

So what’s going on with Kookietiki , tell the truth he’s stopped making slipcast mugs for a number of reasons, mostly the market just stopped as I sold most of my work to the USA it just dried up but also my hands have been getting worse, I am waiting on carpal tunnel surgery for 5 years now and the repetitive work was not helping. But I am now working more at building my workshops with local groups and I love it. So all good , I am still open for one off commission work tho .
