Big big big up all the NYE dancers. Proper post for that coming next. But wanted to get the word out for our next party.
Book Club boss man Is Kill in charge of the music ALL NIGHT LONG. Plenty of time to delve into that music collection. Dipping into all sorts, from disco to techno, and layering over minimal and darker sounds, one thing you can definitely expect - a FRIGGING PARTY.

🚨 Artist Spotlight 🚨

Our hosts for NYE ~ Jute City Jam ~ reached out to us and Acid B***r to create something special for the end of year party.

A fun-focused alternative dance experience. Forged in the molten core of the mighty Reading Rooms and held monthly for 8 years, residents Fontrodona and Ronan Baxter bring boxes of Thumpin’ Funk and hard-fired disco intensity. There are no rules… and no corners of the globe left unexplored at this genre-spanning party!

Fontrodona AKA Max Galloway is the JCJ Don pushing Latin, Afro and Carribean inspired weirdness - a worldwide sound sourced from 4am internet deep-dives and strange rabbithole record shops. He loves fast, bubbly and fun music with a transatlantic flavour that produces ecstatic, turn-to-your-mate-and-embrace dancefloor moments!

Ronan Baxter… JCJ’s hype beast with an infectious smile and a keen sense for what makes people jump so hard they never come back down. Ronans style has evolved over the years to perfectly merge never-heard-before underground rollers with huge, well known party tracks at just the right moments for sheer unadulterated fun. Ronan will throw you over his shoulder and take you on a trip to see where clubbing started and where it’s going next!

CAMAXTLI

Live modular Techno duo formed of two local frequency botherers &
Singularly causing ruckus with their own projects, and now combining forces for the good of sine waves and sore ears.

This will be their debut performance under the alias, and have been working hard on their live set. Expect them to tap into a dimension of sound that will continue the nights journey into the early hours.

Bringing a deadly amount of modular equipment that will be sure melt your minds and pulsate your soul.

Catch them overheating Kings on the 21st behind a sea of wires and flashing lights.

Artist Spotlight SHUPOSTEKUD

An extremely talented drummer, sound engineer and having toured America with his previous band. Jason is now involved in several musical projects, and bringing his SHUPOSTEKUD sonic terrorism to Kings. Think of this more as performance art as he uses multi-instrument noise to create a soundscape of the dark abyss. Pursuing the light through the tension and release within a blackened echo chamber. After witnessing this ourselves we knew we had to do something special to cater to the noise.
Join us as we venture into the magical black box of hope. Earplugs are recommended.
Get there at 11 to be fully launched into the portal.

Our Story

BOOK CLUB lands on the last Saturday of the month at the one and only READING ROOMS.

Now into our 8th year, we keep our guests diverse, and aim to bring the best emerging and biggest DJ's to the city of Discovery. Supported by solid residents with keen ears and sharp skills to provide the party.

The Reading Rooms is our home, an intimate space housed inside a former library, with exposed brick, original decor and a D&B soundsystem. Home to a tight collective of exciting promoters and talented selectors; it’s up there with the best.

Some previous guests include DJ Bone, Call Super, Palms Trax, Subb-an, Peggy Gou, Viers, Kris Wadsworth, Brame & Hamo.
