Dundee Ceramics Workshop offers classes, kiln firings, talks and events, and workspace for members.

As the workshop is manned by volunteers, our opening hours vary slightly week to week. We share our hours at the beginning of each week on Facebook and In Dundee Ceramics Workshop is a ceramics studio offering a range of facilities including classes, talks, workshops and events. Set up by Tin Roof Arts Collective with funding from Creative Scotland and the Dundee Futures Fund

A few moments from our recent Wild Clay DCW workshop with Kristina .in.a.bag_ceramics 🌿🤎⛰️

It was a joy to spend the day together learning about wild clay, exploring its possibilities through making, and sharing conversations around materials, landscape, and ceramics.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and brought such curiosity and generosity to the workshop. We loved seeing the different approaches emerge throughout the day and the connections made around the workbench.

And a big thank you to Kristina for leading such a thoughtful session and sharing her knowledge and love for wild clay!

✨ The Joy of Living ~ Exhibition ✨
We're so excited to share DCW tutor and artist Ekaterina is opening her first solo exhibition this weekend at Dundee Botanic Garden!

'The Joy of Living' is an exhibition that celebrates enjoying pretty things, silly things, and reflecting on all the moments that make life worth living. Through her distinctive ceramic practice, Katia invites us into a world of joy, nostalgia, playfulness, and care🦢🪶

The exhibition opens on 6 June and runs until 28 June at Dundee Botanic Garden.

🎉 We are delighted to announce Laurie Lindow as the recipient of Dundee Ceramics Workshop Graduate Residency Award! 🎉

Selected by the DCW Committee from this year's DJCAD Degree Show , Laurie art stood out for their thoughtful engagement with clay, sensitivity to material, and the strength of their developing practice.

Laurie is a ceramic artist who has recently completed their final year at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. They describe their work as a "sculptural diary", recreating the people, objects, and moments they are drawn to through clay. Their practice is rooted in a deep appreciation for materiality, tactility, and the transformative possibilities of ceramics.

Over the next year, Laurie will be supported through the first DCW Graduate Residency, with access to studio space, mentorship, learning opportunities, materials support, and time to experiment, play, and develop their practice.

A huge congratulations to Laurie 💗 Yay! We can't wait support you on this next chapter!

Bowl Skills 🥣✨ New class starting this weekend!

Ready to move beyond tiny bowls? In this two-session throwing class with Josey, you'll revisit the fundamentals and develop the skills needed to throw a range of bowl shapes and sizes with confidence.

Learn how to refine your forms, trim your work, and perhaps even add a foot rim to your finished pieces.

Because every meal deserves a beautiful bowl 💫

Friday feeling and a wee glazed moon moment 🌙✨

This beautiful orb by one of our members has us thinking about midnight skies, lunar landscapes and dancing in the moonlight 🪩

Glossy blue glaze, iron speckles feel almost cosmic... like a teeny moon 🔮🌝

One of our favourite things about opening the kiln is seeing these unexpected glaze moments appear💫

There’s just one space left for our Wild Clay Masterclass this Sunday at DCW 🌱

Led by artist and ceramicist Kristina .in.a.bag_ceramics drawing from their practice with natural materials and local landscapes, participants will spend the day learning how gathered earth can be transformed into slips and clay bodies for ceramics. This full-day workshop offers an introduction to working with wild clay through foraging, testing, processing and making.

Expect conversation around geology, landscape, foraging and experimentation ~ alongside plenty of hands-on making 🤲 ➿✨

Participants will also decorate ceramic cups and bowls using the materials created throughout the workshop. You’ll leave with handmade pieces, your own wild slips, and perhaps a new obsession with dirt.

If you’re joining us, don’t forget to bring a small sample of soil from a place that matters to you 🤎⛰️

Our glazing and decorating masterclass with Ekaterina is back this weekend for another slow relaxed afternoon of colour, creativity and ceramic magic 💫

Bring along your own bisque-fired pieces and learn techniques for glazing, decorating and adding those final details that make your work feel complete 🎨

Whether you’re experimenting for the first time or building confidence with surface design, this session is the perfect chance to play and explore...

A lovely follow-on for anyone who’s joined one of our pottery classes or courses and wants to take part in the finishing process themselves 🤍

Please remember: you’ll need to bring your own bisque-fired ceramics to work on during the class or let us know if you need one!
