Let’s hack something! InterfaceX26 is live! A festival and campaign centered around getting as an official tag on Steam, and we were inspired to bring back our old stream “Hackers Playing Hacking Games” to get involved. We will go live playing games from the festival that also have the tag straight after the showcase that is on RIGHT NOW. We had the privilege of a very last minute trip down to take part in the amazing “Festival of History and Heritage in Games” put on by the wonderful Makenzie Marshall and Richard Cole - what an amazing and insightful event, bringing academics and developers together to persue the intersection of games and historical representation.

Got to hear from and speak to some incredible folks like Colleen Morgan, Luke Holmes, Alexander Vandewalle, Betty Robertson, Nick Webber, Matt Gibbs and many more.

Definitely got some interesting world building content for the Weird Worlds podcast, so more on the festival to come!

Many thanks to everyone involved in bringing such a focused event together, and for Dr Holly Nielsen for sharing it, would never have known about it otherwise and was so glad to spontaneously head down.

The kickoff has started with the wonderful Chris Filip showing off the incredible achievements and games events across the East of England throughout 2025…

… and the calendar for 2026, and it REALLY spells why you don’t have to be in London or Dundee to have access to the UK Games industry, seriously!

A traditionally underfunded region, folks like Connected Innovation are showing how the East of England is now really making traction punching up, attracting investment and setting up regional funds across a wide and well integrated set of 6 rural counties that span 7,300 square miles. The boonies are no longer in the boonies.

Even more interesting is an emerging trend of devs starting to make games that relate to their heritage or upbringing in the area… a point of interest with our upcoming announcements (stay tuned!)
