WELCOME TO TAYSIDE OPERA'S 59TH SEASON!

MUSIC FOR THE 59TH - ARE YOU READY? . We have some super musical treats in view, and here are some thoughts below from our musical team. There will be plenty to delight in singing and listening and a lot of opportunity.

"Patron's Evening. A Mozart theme. 6 Chorus pieces from those below.
Ave verum. Voyager's chorus. Priest's Chorus from Magic Flute. Men's chorus in 3 parts. In the Opera Choruses book, like Voyagers. Three choruses from Marriage of Figaro.
Ill Wind. Mozart Horn Concerto. Mozart duets and ensembles. Solos are lovely but ensembles too.

Winter Concert. Maybe a French theme, French carol arrangements. in the Willcocks Carol books. Keen to do Cantique de Jean Racine again and possible French opera choruses. We do not have to sing every item in French. Any ideas welcome "

COME ON T.O. This company has had 15 Presidents and soon the 16th will take charge but it has also had so many more supporting it over its 58 years. Every contribution is valued. THANK YOU

And soon it begins. One year and then our 60th Anniversary.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The 58th Season AGM for the company is on Sunday 30th August at Dundee West Church Hall, 132 Perth Road Dundee at 5.30 PM. Followed by a meet and greet and then our first rehearsal around 7.00 PM.

Do come and join/ rejoin the company this year and enjoy singing and a little drama too. TWO CONCERTS AND AN OPERA and lots of opportunity. Do visit the website If you are looking for a choir then Monifieth Singers resume 20th August.

The Patrons evening date is set for Friday the 30th October and will be a Mozart Evening. The concert will be free to patrons so do come along and sign up to support us - and become a patron.

The Winter concert will be Friday 4th December and venue to be confirmed.

FINALLY I will be signing off after the AGM after 10 years as President. If you are interested in joining the committee please contact our Administrator Philippa Sidle here or via the website. There are three opportunities to serve this established group.

THE PICTURES OF SUCCESS - THE 58TH SEASON AND EUGENE ONEGIN. These are photos from Saturday 6th performance taken by Roland Proctor. The intensity of a live Opera with an orchestra is such an achievement and made more special by working with such lovely people. and all done on a shoestring of rehearsal time and budget.

"A big hand again to our principals Corina Ignat, Jolanta Kudra, Brannon ListonSmith, Rowan Gillard, Giselle Dias, Jolanda Grijpstra, Russell Malcolm, Elaine Young, Susan Jenkin, David Clark, Duncan Pirie, George Lindsay and Euan Smith."

The kindness and generosity off stage must also be noted and just this week I have had two further apologies for non attendance accompanied by donations.

Such is the profile and reputation of the company that the rewards always come. and more so with the attention and care we show to those who support us.

I will retire from running "the business" in September after more than 10 years, and it will be in new hands to take us through the 59th season to YES - THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY.

AND SO IT ENDS, AND THEN SO IT BEGINS.
Last year Nabucco was an achievement but the complexity, length and success of Eugene Onegin took us up to another level. The team on stage and off stage can be very pleased. WELL DONE TEAM. It will never be easy but as I say every year we must look up to the summit once again. There will be meetings and discussions before September so WHY NOT JOIN US for our next season concerts and Opera.
