Still old school to the core.

No matter how much the tattoo industry changes, I’ve always stayed true to the machines and methods that helped build this craft. That’s why you’ll still find traditional coil machines on my station.

There’s nothing quite like them. The sound, the weight, the feel in the hand, the way they hit the skin — it’s all part of tattooing for me.

A lot of artists have moved over to lighter, quieter machines, and that works for them. But for me, the old ways still matter. Even when I use a rotary, it has to be the old-school kind — heavy, solid, built like a tank and with that same punchy, no-nonsense feel.

Tattooing has always been about more than just the finished piece. It’s about the process, the craft, the tools, the sound and the connection to where it all came from.

A meaningful fishing tattoo completed here at Nomadic Ink.

The customer wanted a piece that captured the memories of time spent fishing with his dad, turning something deeply personal into a tattoo that will always carry that story.

This black and grey design brings together the fish, rod, reel and hand details in one flowing composition, with depth, shading and texture throughout. Every part of the piece works together to reflect the connection, the memories and the moments behind it.

A serious statement piece.

This Joker-inspired full backpiece took 16 hours of tattooing, bringing together portrait work, playing card details, layered background elements, heavy black and grey shading, and those bold red accents to finish the piece with real impact.

Large-scale back tattoos like this take time, commitment and trust in the process. Every section has to work as part of the full composition, from the main face and expression to the surrounding details and lettering.

16 hours in the chair, and the result is a dark, detailed and powerful backpiece that definitely stands out.

From stencil to finished tattoo.

This piece shows exactly how much work happens between the first lines going on the skin and the final result. The stencil sets the placement and structure, giving the artist the guide for the face, hair, hands and lotus flowers, but it is only the starting point.

Once the tattooing begins, the design starts to take shape properly. Over four hours, the simple outline was built up with black and grey shading, soft gradients, contrast and fine detail, turning the initial guide into a finished piece with depth and character.

The calm expression, detailed hair work, delicate lotus flowers, jewellery and hand details all come together to create a design that flows naturally with the shape of the ribs. It is a great example of how a stencil provides the foundation, while the finished tattoo comes from experience, control and building the artwork stroke by stroke.

A bold and striking eye piece completed recently at Nomadic Ink.

This piece took just over two hours to complete and was designed to capture the sheer presence and strength of one of nature's most iconic animals. Cover-ups are some of the most rewarding tattoos to work on.

This client came in wanting to completely transform an old tattoo that had faded over time and no longer reflected who they are today. After discussing a range of ideas, they settled on a detailed chimpanzee portrait, giving us the perfect opportunity to create something bold, striking and packed with character.

Over the course of around two hours, the old design was carefully incorporated into the new artwork, using depth, shading and contrast to disguise the existing tattoo whilst creating a piece that stands proudly in its own right.

The result is a dramatic black and grey chimpanzee portrait that not only covers the old tattoo effectively but gives the client an entirely new piece of artwork they can enjoy for years to come.
