The recent release of Pendle Witches by the amazing songwriting duo Cobalt Tales truly captivates, expresses and relays to her listeners the truth behind the much talked about tragedy that took place and is part of our local history here at the foot of Pendle Hill the home of our folk club Fields of Green in Downham.
I have seen grown men cry while listening to the haunting and saddest of tales that was played out by using the innocence of a nine year old child Jennet Device to charge 12 innocent country folk of witchcraft and marched to their deaths from the village of Fence to Lancaster Castle where they were tried and punished.
The truth behind this injustice needs to be told and from our stand point Pat And Nuala aka Cobalt Tales who are skilled indeed at telling stories in song, have done a 'good 'n' excellent job!'
